[It's a nice and normal day in Luministi, and that's definitely the case in the Sheriff's office. Today is yet another training day for Deputy Washington and his deputies-in-training. Currently, he's standing in front of a map of the town, his gray suit pressed and dry-cleaned, his yellow tie knotted snugly in place. He's very much a man who has a neat and clean appearance, though his hair could use a trim. He's been remiss, whatwith the festival preparations and security needed during that time. Thankfully, he didn't need his riot gear (re: armor), so that's stowed away safely in a closet.]

All right, all right, settle down. Now, we were pretty lucky things went as smooth as they did during the festival. There were a couple years where we weren't so fortunate. Need I remind you what our very own Sagan Natsuo did? [He pauses for silence, not expecting an answer. Everyone remembers that incident.] No? I thought so.

Anyway, I thought we'd start today with a practical kind of exercise, so I hope you've worn comfortable shoes. We're going to be on our feet for the rest of the day.

[As soon as the sun as set, Doctor John Smith is up in a grassy area somewhere off near the malt shop, with a peculiar setup before him. But...those who know a thing or two about pyrotechnics will know exactly what he's about to do.]

[He turns his CAT on, a big, broad and excited grin on his face]

Hellooooooooooooo Luministi!!! It's that time of year again, and as always, the Mayor has asked me to kick off the celebration with a little display. [there's a mischievous twinkle in her eye] Not even Soph knows what I've got planned this year, so! I think it's about time I show you!

[He shuts the CAT off, and there is nothing for a few moments...

...but then, there's a high-pitched whine followed by an explosion of colour! One after another, fireworks shoot up into the air, and the good doc has not skimped on them. There are ones that change colors, shoot up into different formations, some that even transform from one shape to another.

The display will go on for a good hour, but while those are going on, the festivities have officially started! Parties in the town square with food, game, and drinking booths will go on. The rides are up in full force. There's even dancing going on in the southern shopping plaza area as well as the botanical gardens. Everything the mayor mentioned and more is there for everyone to partake in.]

[That being said, a rare event can be glimpsed in Luministi today: Mu has left his house. Gasp. To the post office, of course, to pick up his packages, but he can be found here and there, picking up sundries (and maybe some sweets for all the kids that are in and out of his place all the time), stopping for a coffee and indulging in a bit of window shopping here and there.

[the CAT activates, seemingly by itself, to show Sophie Smith tending her flower shop. at the moment, she is arranging flowers in the front window, mumbling to herself as she does so. occasionally, she glances up to peer through the window--painted with the curly-lettered message "H. JENKINS FRESH FLOWERS DAILY"--to see if any customers might be coming]

[a voice drifts through the air, saying with a thick Welsh accent:] "If you were expecting an ultraviolet violet or an infra-red geranium, you got it wrong, Mrs. Mad Scientist."

[Sophie jumps at the voice. an expression of worry crosses her face for a moment--and then it passes. she goes back to her work as though nothing has happened, mumbling cheerfully as she puts a final sprig of Baby's Breath into a pot teeming with strange, navy blue roses]

[ooc: Sophie has assumed her resident persona for the current plot.]

[One by one, the visitors disappear, going back home just as mysteriously as they first arrived. When the final one is gone, there is a change...and then, music begins to play on everyone's CATs as it accompanies a montage video tour of the town until it winds up in the Mayor's office once more. Mayor Caligin smiles warmly before speaking.]

Greetings, citizens of Luministi! As you may know, the 702nd Luministi Founder's Day Festival will take place in less than a week! However, this year's festivities will begin early with a cooking contest held here in the town hall, food and wine tasting in the botanical gardens, and 24-hour film festivals for all ages in our very own Janus Theatre! Throughout the week, there will be various game stations and vendors around the town square, with various rides set up in the park. For those of you with music on the brain, all kinds of musical acts can be found around in and around the gardens.

As always, a health and safety booth will be set up near the park for those who get a little too excited, aren't feeling well, or simply can't make the trek to the clinic.

And this is only the beginning! [Caligin's grin grows broader, his excitement practically oozing out of his pores.] Last-minute volunteers are always welcome to help finish setting up booths and decorations, so direct all queries to Miss Osculia as soon as possible if you're interested.
