[The time is late, past curfew, and Jamie is creeping throughout the streets, occasionally ducking behind objects or darting around corners to avoid the patrols. It's a distraction, something to get his mind off the dream he had that night - one that seems more real the more he thinks about it. The bed he was lying on, body wracked with fever, a silver, almost robotic seeming arm reaching towards him... With an effort, he shakes off that thought, his mind turning to other things. Specifically, the message from earlier.]

PL? Plan B? What could those be? Maybe if I keep looking, I'll find some sort of clue.

[Provided, of course, he can continue to manage to avoid being caught. The Scot continues on his search, keeping a wary eye out for the deputies.]

[In the early morning, Ichijou can be found in the southern plaza sitting, legs crossed, at a table. In front of him is a small selection of neatly-organized items: a diary, sitting open directly in front of him, a red pen, sitting on top of the diary, a cup of coffee to his right, and a fresh pastry to his left.

A glance at the diary, which he seems to be fixated on (so much so that he hasn't even nibbled that pastry!), and one could easily tell that one page is a transcription of Audrey's message.  The other page is blank.]

"Changed so much since the last time I saw some of you..." That seems important. Then...

[He grabs the pen and underlines that line, then starts writing on the blank page,
"Message:
→Changed → How?
→Some of you → Who?
→→ Possibly "old friend" of "some of you
""]

Plan B... Plan B... I have no clue what that means.

[Circling that term]

And that PL again.  Obviously it should be a priority to figure out just who that is.

[Circling that, then continuing on the next page,
"PL
→"In charge"
→Worth "being aware of"
→Also worth identifying + tracking down
"]

She's going to start requesting some kind of favors...

["Favors???"]

[Flatly;] What kind of ridiculous pet name is 'sugar dumplings?'

[Then, with a dainty yawn and a drop of the pen,] And why am I even concerned about any of this?

[at some point, a lone, blinking light with the words, "One message received" starts to blink on everyone's CAT device. there is only one type of message available, and when someone starts it, this is what they'll see:]

[the video is a bit grainy, but somehow, it's the only thing able to show up on the defunct CAT. a woman, who ought to be familiar to all of the residents by now, can be seen leaning back from the CAT. from the various drinking paraphernalia, it's clear she's behind the bar of the White Rabbit with a prone body lying motionless beside her. she doesn't wear the normal, happy grin on her face that she's become known for. in fact, she looks tired, weary--like a person who a smile is the last thing on their list of things to do.]

Oh my darlings, I wish more than anything I wasn't making this right now, but the situation's changed so much since the last time I saw some of you. [she glances over her shoulder at the body on the floor] I haven't got much time, but you should know that Plan B did happen. We're still learning the full effects of that now, but Dr. Cal's not...

[trails off, looking suddenly uncomfortable] Look, PL's in charge now, okay? But we've got a friend who you might have seen already and I'm doing what I can to help as well, but I'm gonna need even more from y'all as soon as I can figure out what to have everyone do.

But for now, keep each other safe, my sugar dumplings. Verita sends her love, and I--[she finally does manage to crack a smile, but as the body behind her starts to move, she makes a hasty grab for the camera in front of her and the message comes to an abrupt end.]

[Xion's walking along in front of some storefronts when she just... starts talking aloud, whether or not there's someone there listening.] You know... I've been thinking. I was thinking back to what happened last time we were here, about how things will just show up and disappear, like that phone booth, and how those topiary animals attacked all the buildings but everything just went back to mysteriously normal one day... And how this town is really inside some kind of space station, but I don't think we were ever shown how to get in and out, we just found ourselves there, on the outside.

I went to talk to Aubrey today. I thought she was back to normal -- that she remembered last time -- but that's not the case at all. When I went to the bar, she didn't recognize me, and she should've. So... so.

What if... [She stops walking now.] What if we're inside a computer?

[She shakes her head. She knows she should explain. (To who?)] Where I'm from... There are worlds inside computers, just like there are worlds outside them. One of my best friends... He was almost put inside one of those worlds. I don't know how it works, but there's obviously some way to take real people and put them inside computer worlds.

What if we're inside a computer? That would explain a lot of things, I think. And... and...

[After just over a week - has it really been that long? - of feeling like this, Fuu is fully exhausted. Yet she couldn't help but go out every day to sit and stare at the theatre, the pub, and the space between them.

Today she spontaneously decided to make a delivery - Mister Braxiatel will find a neatly wrapped package on his doorstep, containing a small variety of pastries from the tea house and a box of English breakfast tea.
Well, perhaps it was not too spontaneous. She'd been thinking about the past a lot, and he was a large part of the particular incident she was mulling over.]

[Biking away from West Luministi Greens on her way to sit across from the theatre and pub again, she suddenly starts peddling at a break-neck speed towards that place-- and stares at it for a long moment.

Trembling, she slumps to the ground and curls up into a ball, face buried in her knees and hands pressed to her ears.]

[[ooc: She'll stay like that for about 15 minutes before pulling herself together enough to get home. (Unless of course someone comes across her like this, or she nearly ran you over with her bike and you've come after her!)]]

[despite the CAT malfunction, many of the residents may still hear the yelling of a certain witch, who is currently in a temper that's quite possibly even worse than upon her arrival. she appreciated the tea from Mu, but more time to think about her current problem has just made her even more frustrated than ever]

[at the moment, she is stomping toward the Botanical Gardens while hauling a bucket of what used to be watery fertilizer and is now, through generous use of her rage combined with her magical talents, some particularly potent weedkiller] I have had enough!

[she's not even properly into the gardens yet when she splashes a generous quantity of the substance on a topiary deer, turning it impressively brown and withered while also killing a huge swath of grass around it] HOW DARE YOU TRAP ME HERE! [and there goes part of a hedge] How dare you take me away from my husband--[some unsuspecting grass]--and bring me here when I--! [her voice catches, and she lets out a cry of frustration again, going at a topiary giraffe, though the splash only goes partway up its neck] I won't stand for it! Send me home this INSTANT! [she's utterly hysterical now and wildly flings weedkiller, killing a wide half-circle of grass and assorted flowers around her] You must! [she falters a little, her fear showing amidst her anger] You-you must!

[Having recovered from the initial confusion of waking up somewhere else (likely due to a combination of drunkenness and drugs so he assumed), Nathan has stomped away from his townhome under the impression it isn't his and he'll have to catch a fucking taxi to somewhere with cellphone reception.]

Where the fuck am I?

[Someone didn't bother paying attention to any of the new greeting stuff. Who cares about that, pfff.]

This is fucking bullshit, ugh.

[Nathan is proceeding to basically angrily stomp around town. He will likely end up going in circles for ages, provided he doesn't get stopped multiple times on his mission to find a fucking taxi.]

Great fucking job. Probably passed out in some fucking lady's house, she went to work, and you're in the middle of fucking nowhere. Where the fuck is Charles? Why isn't he fucking picking me up already! That's like 90 percent of his job!

[Don't mind him talking to himself, really.]

[Map in one hand and envelop in another, Mu is marching around Luministi, looking for someone. Well, four possible someones who he knows has been here before, but finding one of them might be much easier said than done since the CATs are down. Still, he needs to talk to someone about a certain card he received and the message that was written on it.

Every now and then, he'll stop to study the map, just to make sure he's not getting completely lost.]

[a vast array of tools rest, discarded, on one of the tables in the outdoor courtyard of the southern shopping plaza. at that same table, the Doctor sits with his feet propped up on a nearby chair. he appears to be concentrating on the CAT device in his hand, a serious expression on his bespectacled face.]

[but every now and then, his eyes flit over to look at an envelope that's practically buried beneath the primitive--to him, anyway--tools. with a frustrated sigh, he tears his glasses off, rubbing his eyes, and shoves the tools away to grab the envelope.]

What are you up to this time, Caligin...?

[after a moment, he tucks the envelope into an inner jacket pocket and returns to his attentions to the CAT he'd carelessly dropped on the table. sadly, even doing that didn't turn it on. he's rather disappointed it didn't work.]

[ooc: By the way, I'm going to leave you a note about what letter (A or B) that Ten got, and then edit that out of the comment. Just so you know!]

[a little before 3 p.m., two voices can be heard arguing over the CAT, though their words are slightly distorted as the random connection isn't the best. the voices belong to the two mysterious figures, though this is the first time anyone's able to hear them.]

--not going to stop this. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?

[the older sounding of the two voices sounds resigned] You've made your mind up already--[the connection goes out a little, making his words unintelligible]--know what I'd rather do to find them.

Live a little--[static builds suddenly]--sides, this way is far more fun. Everyone loves a little conflic--

[and just then, the clock ticks over to 3 p.m., and all power to the CATs instantly cuts out, simultaneously cutting the connection to that exchange. they are completely unresponsive and are frozen in whichever mode they were in before the outage. not too long after, those in their homes will hear the doorbell ring, but no one will be outside when the door is open. an envelope addressed to each resident is left outside lying on the stoop. those out and about will randomly be handed the same kind of envelope from a passer-by, but that person, too, will also disappear once it's done. inside each envelope is a letter that reads as follows:]

    Dear citizens of Luministi,

It regrets me to inform you that continued issues to the town’s communications systems have led to the temporary shutdown of the entire network. This means that both the CATs and vidscreens are now down. It is an inconvenience to me as well, but the software issues must be taken care of while the system is inactive. I trust you all will understand.

This does, however, raise the issue about how you will be able to pay for your purchases at any of our grand shops and restaurants in town. As the system is down for the unforeseeable future, you will be asked to simply sign in with proprietors of each establishment. That is all! Your purchases will be attributed to your account at the end of each day, and the best part of it all is you will not have to do any of the work.

As an added safety measure, I am going to institute a temporary town curfew for 9 p.m., effect immediately. There is no punishment for being found out beyond curfew at this time. The sheriff and his deputies will be around town patrolling the area, and if found breaking curfew, they will escort you to your homes. This is merely for your safety while our communications systems are down. Please be aware that obstinacy and resistance will not be met favorably.

Thank you for your understanding in this time of distress.

[look inside the envelope again and included with the letter is a special business card-sized note that reads, on one side, "For your eyes only!" and on the other side, well...]
