[Very backdated, to September 3. Sorry!]
[Private message to Mister Hawk]

Good afternoon!
It is another lovely day out, and I was wondering if you would have time to take a short walk with me?
[identity profile] wind-of-reason.livejournal.com
[Private text message to Xion:]

Hello!
It's been a while since I've seen you - how are you holding up with the quizzes?

I've been taking a lot of walks recently. It's a good alternative to staying inside my home. Would you like to meet sometime and take a walk together?

[ooc: Hiatus? What hiatus? XD I'll be tagging until the moment I leave...]

[It's been about a week and a half. That should be good - long enough since their last conversation. ...Why did Mister Braxiatel ask her to do this though? She's not confident she will be able to catch Ms Ardes in being deceitful. However, to press every advantage she is sending a video message, despite her self-consciousness at the fact that her glasses are now painted on her face somehow. (She's hoping it's not too obvious, and she's kept the lighting dim in her living room. Still freaks her out every time she looks in a mirror though.)]

[Private message to Ms Audrey Ardes.]

Ms Ardes, I hope that you are doing well and have avoided the quiz games.

If I may, I have a couple of things I wanted to talk to you about. Certainly more light-hearted than last time, however!
Sheriff Iussus once mentioned that you might be able to bring in a Karaoke machine to your establishment. Do you suppose that might be possible? It would be great fun.

Also, seeing as you were the hostess for the re-opening of the Botanical Gardens, I was wondering if you might tell me more about the gardens.

[Oswald stands before the strange machine he saw other people using to retrieve their stolen goods. His hair is all silver threads, and he's about a foot and a half shorter. His skin looks rather, well, fabric-y]

...I do not understand what I am supposed to do.

...[so he kicks it]

[in a text message to all his fellow residents]

If anyone cares to join me for a bit of sightseeing and a chat, I'm on the roof of the library! Wonderful view, by the way! Absolutely brilliant. Xion, I think you'll like this view especially!

I've left a rope ladder tangling down the southern side of the building if you wanted to avoid going inside. If you want any help getting up, give the ladder a tug. Or shout. Both will work.

Oh, and watch your heads!

[to anyone watching from the ground, the just might get a glimpse of him aiming something at the sky.]

[in a private video message to Sophie]

[he smiles] Sophie, there is something I'd like to ask you. It might be a bit sudden, but believe me, I've got my reasons. Well, more like a really good idea and I'm not entirely sure how you'll take it. [rubs the back of his neck awkwardly]

Just...come meet me. Easier to explain in person. [turns his CAT off]

[randomly in the southern lawn of the town square, a silver view finder appears. pretty innocent looking, isn't it? and in actuality, it really is! only...what it shows might not be so innocent... nonetheless, observers will notice that the remaining residents who haven't been turned into dolls yet walk past it without noticing it at all. how odd.

a few minutes after its appearance, an unregistered CAT device sends an audio message to only the new residents, but those with keen ears will notice that the voice distortion is pitched a bit higher than normal. strange. the message goes as follows:]

Things are falling apart faster than I expected, so I can finally utilize this device while everyone is distracted. Use those prizes I gave you to get a glimpse of the truth! Thought you'd also like to know that he is safe and at home with his family far, far away from here. But please keep each other safe and beware R--

[the message, unfortunately, cuts off there...]

[ooc: Remember those gold coins embossed with the image of a lion and a sun? It seems someone has had something planned for them this entire time. Good thing you can recover it with your stolen item! Of course, there are some residents who can get one coin and others with two. Those with two will be able to use the view finder twice. Oddly enough, the view finder only will let you look at things in the four cardinal directions, and once you pick the direction, you can't move the view finder. So! Comment here ICly with the direction you wish to look at. Those of you with two coins can comment twice so we can let you know what you will see with your second choice. If you wish to comment/ask a question OOCly, you can as well!

Oh, and as a note, after you have used your coin(s) and return home, you will find that the lion paperweight has moved to a different location in your townhome. How or why that happened, well...you'll see soon enough...]

[Private text message to Mister Braxiatel.]

Mister Braxiatel, when you were going through the law books I brought to you a few weeks ago, did you happen across anything about capital punishment?
(And although we were under the amnesia at the time, I hope that you were able to return or renew the books before they became due.)

[ooc: relevant link]

[Private message to Sheriff Iussus.]

Sheriff, if I may have a moment. I was wondering if you have had opportunity to begin investigating the unusual happenings that the new residents have experienced, which I mentioned to you in our interview at the end of last month.
You did say that once the murderer was found that you'd investigate the matter more thoroughly.
Also, I'd like to know if you've experienced a sudden increase in missing persons reports since the weekend. The town seems a little... less busy than usual.

[Private message to Ms Audrey Ardes.]

[bows] Ms Ardes, we only met briefly once before during the opening of the greenhouse, but may I offer you my condolences over the events of the past month.
If you feel agreeable to it, I would like to hear more about the life of Mister Ardes, as well as Mister Bruno and Sheriff Teger, if you knew them well.

[The CAT turns on without warning as Brax is trying to open his front door. He is fine, his half-amused smile settled easily. He doesn't show a sign of having lost to any of the questions, and he's holding two coins in one of his hands.]

[Then the hologram pops up, and Braxiatel loses all expression. If there is one word to describe him now, it's cold.]

[It is asking him this: What is inside your head?]

[Very, very quietly, Braxiatel speaks.]
I'll take the penalty.

[He steps into the house. There is the mechanical click of joints as his hands close into fists, then open again. He drops his coins and a silver pen on the table, then sinks into a chair.]

[When the CAT turns on, Fuu doesn't even notice because she's playing a crane game with an intense look of concentration upon her face. Nearly buried amid the adorable stuffed figures that fill the machine is a brown schoolbag, which Fuu is clearly aiming for.]

[The claw snags one of the handles of the bag, the crane moves up, and Fuu gives a small cry of happiness as her bag is deposited in the chute.]

At last. Thought I'd never get it. --Oh, and another one of these?

[Taking up her bag and the two coins she looks left and right. She then moves over to another game, this one with a pincushion nestled among the toys. Fuu tilts her head thoughtfully.]

It was Miss Sophie who lost the pincushion, right...

[Figuring that she wouldn't know how to play the game to get her item back, Fuu tries to start the game with her CAT so that she can retrieve the pincushion for her. But it won't work.]

What--?

[Moving down the line she tries a couple other machines. None work.]

Oh, I see. That's just mean.

Well, everyone, it seems that my CAT is on, so you just saw it. Apparently we must each come enjoy this arcade that the Mayor told us about.

[Later, a message private to Verita, in text]
Miss Verita, something happened, didn't it? Please message back when you can, and... hang in there.

So, uh... I don't know if you guys remember our adventure down memory lane, but I have to say it wasn't exactly fun. Thanks for dealing with me back then, guys. I know I wasn't exactly the most talkative person around. [being purposefully vague! Observers can note that she's calmly eating lunch in what seems to be a pretty deserted place otherwise. ... Not that Cissie minds; it just gives her more privacy for this transmission.]

Also, while we're at it... Is anyone good at these puzzle games? All the doors I've encountered today are really fond of playing Sphinx with me. I'm okay at them, but I think even I'll have to travel down to the library if I want to get around town like a normal person.

... Not that anything "normal" ever happens around here.
[identity profile] arrowspride.livejournal.com
From one transmission to another, I see. Apparently this is the way this place works? [Dryly:] Fascinating.

But as this new one seems to have a bit of substance in it, I suppose I can let it slide.

To those who have been here far, far longer, a question from a, ah. New arrival.

Are things always this hectic here? [Okay, so maybe "hectic" is not the right word for it, but Uryuu wants it nice and short for his intro. TLDR can come later when people have gotten used to him :T]

[it probably comes as no surprise to anyone who knows her that, when Sophie's CAT activates seemingly without her consent, it shows Sophie looking terribly annoyed] What do you mean by asking questions like this just to go in!? I have a headache, and I would like some tea, and you are going to open this door!

[she is standing outside the tearoom, her hands on her hips and definitely not a mood to deal with the hologram in front of her, currently displaying a trivia question: What is the name of the reptilian race that, by the 25th century, dominated a large portion of the galaxy matched only by their rival and sometimes enemy the Earth Empire?]

I have no idea what you're even referring to! Open the door! [grabs the knob, but the door doesn't budge. instead, an angry tone sounds to reveal to Sophie that she has answered incorrectly]

[she lets out a cry of frustration]
Curses! Open!

[unfortunately, as she tries the knob again, another hologram appears, this time with the question: What is the name of the weapon that can both unlock all doors and people's hearts?]

[gapes] Whatever it is, it must be black magic indeed! Stop this nonsense and let me in!

[observers might be able to guess that she's been at this for a while. in fact, one by one, strands of her hair have been changing to orange yarn, though not enough to be easily visible yet. she's also about two inches shorter than she should be and her left foot is composed of fabric rather than skin. this is not a good day for Sophie]

... Verita?

It's Xion. Um. You... The mayor made the news announcement today.

Are you okay?

[if anyone is near the town square, they might just notice the cloud of gas begin to dissipate. moments after it's gone, all CATs and vidscreens turn on, showing the black and white image of the mayor, but the smile on his face doesn't even come close to reaching his tired eyes. in the background, one can hear this song playing faintly.]

Greetings, citizens of Luministi. I have a few announcements I'd like to make this lovely Saturday afternoon on behalf of our very own Verita. First of all, our other dear friend, Dr. Resarci, is still on a leave of absence after what seems to be a horrible, stubborn cold struck him sometime last week. And during his well-deserved vacation, even! Probably all for the best he was unavailable and missed former Deputy Drew's execution late last night. My condolences to the families of his victims as well as to his own. Let us observe a moment of silence for our lost citizens.

[he bows his head, the music in the background ceasing while a moment passes in silence. as he looks up again, the music resumes playing]

Secondly, it seems the strange fog that has been hanging about the town has finally decided to move on, and just in time too! Our very own Janus Theatre will be showing double features on its outside screen every night for the next week as part of the celebration of the opening of its new arcade wing. Might want to bundle up, though. I have been informed that we are expecting an unusual cold front to be coming in. Might even see some frost on those lawns in the early morning if we are lucky. Highly unusual for this time of year! Why, I cannot remember--

[in the middle of his speech about the weather, the transmission on only the new residents' CATs cuts out suddenly, leaving the vidscreens still broadcasting the Mayor's rather boring announcement. a moment later, however, a new transmission begins with the Mayor yet again--but something seems wrong, from the disheveled state of his normally perfectly coiffed hair to the buttons of his shirt left undone, even the dark circles under his eyes that are normally covered with a judicious application of make-up. he isn't looking at the camera, nor does he have his normal piece of music on. instead, his eyes are focused on just below the sightline of the camera.]

This is one step too far... I knew hiring him would be a risk, but now this?! [he covers his face with one hand] Oh my poor little girl... I never should have--no, I'll make this right somehow. I never thought it would go like this. This isn't what I wanted! [he clutches a ragdoll of sorts to his chest]

[he falls silent for a long moment, and when he speaks again, his voice is calm and evenly measured]
We need to find him. We need to tell--[he notices the camera is on at last]--has that been recording this entire--

[the new transmission cuts out only to be replaced with yet another. a third, but brief, transmission begins, showing the flickering image of what appears to be a grab machine or rather, a whole row of them. a voice exactly like the one heard in the phone booth before its destruction speaks:]

Find it before it's too late.

[and finally, both transmissions cease altogether just as the Mayor is wishing everyone a great day.]
