[randomly in the southern lawn of the town square, a silver view finder appears. pretty innocent looking, isn't it? and in actuality, it really is! only...what it shows might not be so innocent... nonetheless, observers will notice that the remaining residents who haven't been turned into dolls yet walk past it without noticing it at all. how odd.

a few minutes after its appearance, an unregistered CAT device sends an audio message to only the new residents, but those with keen ears will notice that the voice distortion is pitched a bit higher than normal. strange. the message goes as follows:]

Things are falling apart faster than I expected, so I can finally utilize this device while everyone is distracted. Use those prizes I gave you to get a glimpse of the truth! Thought you'd also like to know that he is safe and at home with his family far, far away from here. But please keep each other safe and beware R--

[the message, unfortunately, cuts off there...]

[ooc: Remember those gold coins embossed with the image of a lion and a sun? It seems someone has had something planned for them this entire time. Good thing you can recover it with your stolen item! Of course, there are some residents who can get one coin and others with two. Those with two will be able to use the view finder twice. Oddly enough, the view finder only will let you look at things in the four cardinal directions, and once you pick the direction, you can't move the view finder. So! Comment here ICly with the direction you wish to look at. Those of you with two coins can comment twice so we can let you know what you will see with your second choice. If you wish to comment/ask a question OOCly, you can as well!

Oh, and as a note, after you have used your coin(s) and return home, you will find that the lion paperweight has moved to a different location in your townhome. How or why that happened, well...you'll see soon enough...]

[his ears did pick up on that difference and he wonders why that is--one of many thoughts in fact. soon enough, though, he turns up at the view finder and pulls out his two coins, flipping one of them over his fingers while he debates where he should look. after a moment, he grabs the view finder and turns it so it's facing north, then inserts one coin.]

[he doesn't look away, but exclaims:] What?! [it takes him a moment to get over his surprise before he falls silent] Ohhh, isn't that clever...? [he tries to turn it a bit, but finds that it's locked in place. he frowns and tries to give it a sharp twist, but it still won't budge. he sighs, but goes back to looking at what he can see and before he knows it, his time is up.]

If that was there...[he tries to turn it again and finds that he can move it now.] Interesting. [he gives it a spin and settles for looking in the east before he inserts his coin.]

If two characters are at the view finder and one uses a coin, can they both catch a glimpse of the view on the one coin?

Sorry, two or more characters can't piggyback a view off one coin! What will happen is this: Say Fuu and Xion are there together. Fuu uses her coin to look in her chosen direction, then tells Xion to have a look. Xion won't see what Fuu sees. Instead, she'll see what she'd normally see with her own eyes--just a bit closer up. But if Fuu looks through it again, it'll be what she saw when she first looked through it--until the time runs out, that is.

The viewfinder isn't your everyday sort, you see! The coins are keyed in to their owner, which is why only Fuu can see something strange through it and not anybody else--until the other person uses their own coin.

[Exasperated with staying in her home and away from other buildings pretty much all week, Fuu is out for a walk when she gets the message. A short time later she happens across the view finder and claps her hands in delight.]

Oh, Hikaru would love this. It must be the 'device'.

[Investigating it, she tries turning it around. Oddly, it seems to stick to the four cardinal directions. Then she sees the coin slot. Taking one of her coins, she tries fitting it to the slot without putting it in.]

Ahh~

[Smiling, she tilts her head as she considers. Presumably, she could use her two coins to view something through the finder twice. It would be nice if she could see all four, though... Remembering his post from a few days ago, she recalled that Mister Braxiatel had two coins. Her smile widening, she takes out her CAT to message him.]

Mister Braxiatel, if I may trouble you, could you come meet me at the town square? And please bring your two coins?

[Rather than reply by video, he just takes a quick walk to the town square after calmly insulting his door on the way out. Hey, it has it coming if it's going to start asking snide questions about his position on the High Council. His hands are in his pockets, and when he arrives, he examines the viewfinder with casual interest.]

[When Mister Braxiatel comes over, Fuu gives him a bit of a bow and smiles brightly.]

Interesting, ne? It looks like it will take these golden coins, and it only points in four directions. I figured it might be good to try and have us both see all four views.

[Fuu is a touch surprised to see yet another new person on her CAT (where are they coming from?), but she replies with a bright smile and a bow.]

[Although this might be taken at face value, Fuu hopes that it might be even more meaningful to the person who sent the mysterious message. She also hopes that it was indeed Miss Verita who sent it, even though she thought that the woman was currently a doll. But it would seem that the 'dead' Deputy is alive and well, so who knows!]

Saw your message on her CAT, and I wanted to let you know that Verita is in good hands. She might be a doll right now, but she's safe. Please trust that. Let that kind boy with the spiked hair and who used to wear that black coat know that she's safe too. He sounded very concerned for her...

But be careful what you say in private messages to her. She's on our side, but others... Just be careful is all.
