◌ 009 ◌ I'm pretty sure I didn't sign up for this...
[A CAT text, filtered to all 'new residents'. This way, she can be a bit more concise.]
Everyone, I have some very interesting information to share with you.
Upon the Sheriff's recommendation, I messaged the Mayor directly to ask about this 'new resident program' of his. I'm pleased to say that after some time, he did reply personally.
Now, both him and the Sheriff were surprised that I'm even asking about this, because they are under the impression that we signed up to be here. Well, have a look at the video that he sent me - I've managed to attach it to this message.
Anyways, I'm pretty sure that I didn't sign up to be here. But I believe that we did all have that mysterious flash and the tall man in a black suit, with a black hat, I think? And perhaps carrying something. So, I tried to ask the Mayor if his recruiter looks like that. I also asked if I could review my application to the program.
However, my request was met with more lovely resident side-stepping. Miss Osculia replied that the applications are confidential and not available to view after they've been submitted. Now, do any of you know about privacy laws? Because I'm quite certain that there should be nothing restricting the one who filled out the form from reviewing it. If you can think of an argument so that we can see our forms, it might be worth a try.
Either way, I hope this helps. Miss Osculia's supposed to let me know when the Mayor is available to 'address my concerns'...

Oh, I can think up arguments if she's going to be that stubborn. The mayor's the head of our government, right? In the US, if the government refuses to grant access to a person's own documents, it's fair grounds for a court case. There's Privacy Acts that enforce this law... and if necessary, I can quote it to her face.
... Thanks for giving us this information, Fuu. It's
incrediblyslightly disturbing, but I don't think this is an instance where we need to be ignorant.no subject
I don't know if the laws of the US apply here, seeing as we're on the 'Northern Continent' of 'Sol 3' [makes a face at that], but it might be worth a try anyways? If nothing else, a whole bunch of us asking about it might get some attention.
You're welcome. The more information the better!

... Can you tell me what else you know about this place?

[And Fuu will cheerfully ramble on about Luministi-as-she-knows-it until you try to cut in. She starts with some basics - the edge of town loops back, the sundials are suspicious and the residents even more so, the schools and most of the families live just outside the town proper, the sparse history (http://community.livejournal.com/luministi_ooc/5542.html#cutid1), and disappearing buildings.]
[ooc: I can flesh it out with details if you like! But I thought I'd start with that XD]

[ooc; Works for me! ♥ I think Cissily would've tried to find some of this stuff out herself anyway.]

[text, sometime later]
There's a lot here to go through... would you like me to bring them over to you?

I find it hard to believe that any town would create a program where they would pay all the expenses for someone to move there. There must be more to this "program."
[text]
Besides them flat-out bringing us in as 'new blood,' I can't imagine what, though. I'm sure that they could have found plenty of people who legitimately wanted to come here, so why us, and why all the secrets?
Re: [text]
I'm quite used to dealing with people who are wicked, but they at least have a reason for the wicked things they do!
[stops her text message there, realising that she let her babbling get into her writing. oops]
[text]
It's all to help themselves, with little concern for our free will. If I knew what they needed I might very well volunteer to help, but it's just been games and secrets. The 'why' is a very important question. I can't fight if I don't know what is truly going on.
[text]
[then again, she could think of a reason why a dying town might want her. and Mr Braxiatel and the Doctors, considering their technical knowledge. and...maybe it wasn't the best question, really]
More importantly, how can we do anything for them without knowing what they need?

I'm certain it's all part of a bigger picture!

But no, we most certainly are not! ...Certainly not again.
I don't suppose you can think of any reason why they would want you though? You come from someplace with magic, right?
no subject
My world has magic, yes, although I am not sure why that would interest someone here.

Seems like you said the magic words there, Fuu. Not surprised Osculia avoided your questions, but in some parts of the universe--well, only one planet, really--some privacy laws are so tight, you can't even look at yourself in a mirror without filling out a stack of papers. Supposed to deter the development of narcissism, that one, but it really just means there is an entire planet filled with people who can't do their hair up properly and can't shave to save their lives--and never mind about applying make-up of any kind.
Not that I had that problem myself. Not me. Kept nicking myself shaving though.
text
Nope, I wasn't surprised to be put off either. I was more surprised to get a personal response from the Mayor! I just hope that Miss Osculia doesn't forget to let me know, though.
text
What did he say, exactly?

---
Dear Miss Hououji, thank you for your renewed interest in my Luministi Revival Program! Admittedly, I am somewhat puzzled why you're asking about it again, but perhaps this promotional ad will help answer any questions you may have. Unfortunately, I am a terribly busy man, else I would answer them in person for you. A copy of the promotional ad will be sent to your CAT so you may view it as many times as you'd like.
Thank you again!

If I may say, it does sound a bit... familiar. It has the tone of that first message from him.
Anyways, I'm glad I took the Sheriff's advice to try messaging the Mayor directly, instead of going through Miss Osculia. Look at what happened! And if she doesn't get back to me, I just might have to try messaging him again.
text
But something tells me you won't be hearing from her. You've had problems getting appointments and such in the past, right?
