Day 15 | ~ World's End Umbrella ~

[Like last time, Xion is searching out her friends. Anyone and everyone she talked to, all the people she met here -- She wants to meet with them, talk to them, find out if they're staying or leaving, say good-bye if it's the latter. Unlike last time, though, her spirits are higher. She can stay. She can stay and still be helpful, still search for the answers they've been looking for, stay and live, really live.

She's also searching for one person in particular. She has something to ask him -- to ask of him, to inform him of something, and she... Part of her is hopeful. Part of her is nervous. Another part of her... feels like she can't ask this of him. She shouldn't ask him to stay for her. She knows she's asking for Nathan, but that's what it feels like. She feels like she doesn't have the right to ask that of him. If he has something important to do at home, then she has no right at all. (If he has something important to do at home, and says no, then...) Xion takes a deep breath and lets it out. At the same time, she has to ask. She has to know. She has to find out for herself.

So, Luministi. How about one last conversation with Xion?]

Yep, been doing a bit of that myself. [walks up next to her as though he's watching the stars for a moment] So, heading back home again?

[She shakes her head.] No. I'm staying here.

[... she pauses. He counts as a best friend, and that means she can tell him what she's really been thinking about this.]

I'm worried... I don't know how things are back home without me. I don't know if he's still awake, or if he... or if he fell asleep again, because I'm here instead of there, with him. [Xion takes a deep, shaky breath and lowers her eyes.] I know that last time, when we went back... It was right where we left off. But there's no way to tell if it's the same this time. It's not like I can go back and check, you know?

[She shakes her head, brow furrowing.] I... have to make sure that this can't happen again. That people aren't pulled back here. If whoever did this can bring me back, when there shouldn't have been anything to have been brought back... They're powerful. They're powerful, and we don't know what they're up to. Mayor Caligin wanted to learn how to bring the dead back to life... Resarci's son wanted to use us for entertainment. What does the person who actually brought us here want? How did they do it? I have to know, and I have to stop them. They're too much like Xemnas. This time, though, I...

[She lifts her head, finally, hands turning to fists at her sides.] This is something I can do. I don't have to go away in order to defeat him. This is my battle. So, even if Sora is still sleeping... Donald, Goofy, Riku, Kairi, and all of his other friends will have to be sad for just a little bit longer. I don't like it, but... This is something that I have to do.

[She hesitates now. Her cheeks tint red again, and, in a smaller voice, she adds:] Besides... Doesn't this count as a chance to live? Really live? If he is awake, then... I don't have to go back. I wish I could, so I can take care of Axel and help them stop Xemnas, but... I can't. So I'll have to do my best away from them. Roxas and Axel both wanted us to be together forever, just like me... But I don't think this is too bad, is it? Especially since... [She flushes more.] Especially since I won't be alone.

[She glances at him.] Doctor, a-are you... Are you going home?

[he's silent for a moment after she's done and asked her question. it's something he's been thinking about since they found Lab #3]

You know...I've been thinking about it for a while, and like you said, there's far too much going on here that I can't just walk away from it. Not when whomever is doing this is still out there.

[glances at her, a small smile spreading across his face] So that means I'm staying.

[During his silence, her nerves flared up. Oh, no... Why did I ask that? I should've brought up what Nathan said instead. What if he says he's going home? I shouldn't have asked that...

She looks up at him when he starts speaking, eyes wide (and hopeful and anxious). She glances away when he looks at her, in hopes he wouldn't catch the look on her face (really, Xion, get a hold of yourself, if he's going home you should be happy for him), but then -- ]

R-Really? [She can't not look at him, her eyes lighting up tentatively.]

[he lets out a soft sigh] Yeah... I thought I could leave. I really did. [rests a hand on her head] But I'm not ready go.

That's -- [Xion has to stop herself before she blurts out "That's great!" Calm down, calm down. That's not the proper response to the words he said.]

Well, I have good news! Nathan said he thought he could find a way to bring the rest of the TARDIS here.

[he's about to ask that, but all thoughts of that are completely gone because of that statement] What? What?! Really? [his face is all lit up now--but it's instantly replaced with a very confused look] But how? How can he do it?

[That look on his face -- Almost anything is worth that.]

Really! I don't know how, but he said he could do it! He was hoping you'd stay, so that me and you could travel together, and so that's why he wants to bring the TARDIS here proper.

[he laughs] Is that right?

Yeah! [Her enthusiasm is finally catching up to her now. She gets to stay, she gets to help, she gets to travel with the Doctor in his TARDIS -- ]

[runs a hand through his hair] Blimey, and here I was thinking I'd have to pilot some primitive human spaceship! I'll have to check a few things once the old girl's completely here, but...[he smiles] I'll be able to take you with me if you'd like.

If I'd -- [Xion can't finish repeating him.]

I -- well -- that's -- that's what Nathan suggested --

[cuts in] But is it what you want?

I -- [Why is this so hard to say? It's what she wants more than anything else in the worlds right now.]

I -- Of -- Of course it is, why wouldn't I?

Brilliant! Because I'd love it if you joined me. [he grins broadly]

Something warm and bright and full of energy swells inside her and she can't help it -- she jumps up and down, those blue blue blue eyes full of happiness -- no, more than happiness and -- ]

And Jamie'll come with us too, right? And it'll be the three of us? And Ichijou will take care of the base and we can travel in your bigger-on-the-inside time machine and --

[you know what? he gets completely sucked into that enthusiasm and scoops Xion up in a huge hug] Yes, yes, yes and--! [he stops] Well, actually I overheard that Croix and that military bloke in the armour were staying as well, but they must have their own transportation. And we can't exactly travel in time here. Once the TARDIS lands, we all become part of the events from that point forward.

[ksdjlfkdkg///////but ALL THE HUGS YES YAY YAY OMG]

Really? Well -- The more the merrier! I'm sure Nathan didn't expect so many of us to stay... What're they gonna use to get around in? Just a regular gummi -- er, space ship?

We can't even go just to take a look around and get information? [Organization-style reconnaissance...]

More than likely. The technology is certainly available, and who knows! [lets her go and straights scratching the back of his neck] Nathan just might be doing for them what he's doing for us with my TARDIS. Not that I think either them has a highly sophisticated ship that travels in both space and time.

Oh, we can definitely interact! I've met more people that way... It's usually how I come across the people I've travelled with in the past. So many serendipitous encounters...

But you said we can't go back in time here.

[there's a mischievous twinkle in his eye] I did, yes, but! That doesn't mean we have to do both. She's a smart old thing. We can just travel through space--and a hell of a lot quicker than any normal ship would do.
