[Croix was already at the Observation Deck when the fire pit appeared. ... Thanks for that. He probably would have had a slightly more comical reaction if he wasn't still a liiiittle on the angry side - as it was, he simply twitched, glared at it, and then looked around for any other changes in the room. And that scribbled message on the wall? Was definitely a change. Since then, he'd tried to make his way out, suspicious about what staying there could mean. No escape, huh? It figured.
So, he's been here. Pretty much just waiting for everyone else to show up. He's standing, arms crossed, leaning on his shoulder against the glass, and just looking out at the stars. Every once in a while, he glances back at that message on the wall.]
I think it's a safe guess that more trouble's on the way.
[And he is not looking forward to whatever is coming up next...]
((OoC: Do please come bother him! Or poke him via CAT if you're not quite there yet! Hell, if you want to mingle with others using this post, we can make this a mingle post. I don't care~ have at it, yo. o/))

[slowly] I...see. That...was really random. And really isn't the kind of reply I expected when I asked about a message that says, "What have you done?" but I suppose you felt the need to answer me.

I had to race against a Reyvateil hidden in a robot to the center of the fake Metafalica in order to save Luca's soul.
I blamed Lady Cloche for everything that the Grand Bell did to the IPDs.
I saw through the illusion of the Dreamy Fields and used that to get deeper inside the heart of the Tower.
[And right after that, he immediately holds up both hands and quickly adds:] Don't say it again! I-It's connected.

I... [he falls silent, reflecting on those surprising responses. but part of him...wonders about the validity of them.]
Croix, just how much of that is true? [he doesn't sound hesitant, suspicious, or even like he's judging Croix. it's merely a simple, concerned question.]

But, it's out now. No real reason to look the other way. He opens his eyes again and looks up at Washington]
Most of it is. [But there's one part he's pretty adamant about:] I didn't abandon Luca, though.
[Forgive the slightly nervous fidget. afjdskal He crosses his arms and leans against the wall again, hoping that will help.] I... also didn't blame Lady Cloche. I knew it had to be over her head. The rest, though... It's true.

I see. I didn't think you would blame her. Despite her...[he paused, hunting for the right word]...personality, you've never said anything bad about her. The same is more than true for Luca. I never pegged you as someone who would abandon a friend, much less one you had feelings for.
[oh yeah, he's noticed. you don't spend all that time with a guy and not pick up on things.]

Aaand then he gets to the part about Luca. And having feelings for her. ... He might be blushing a little. He shakes his head.]
Y-You say that so easily...
[Well, at least it means he's not asking about the, erm, heavier confessions. Yet.]
no subject
[Oh, he'll get there. He hasn't forgotten those.]
no subject
No. You're not. I guess I just... don't know how to say it.
[Yeah, yeah. He knows. Let him have some relief while he can, geez.]

[..... Wait. ... !!]
You talked to her?

I'm sure she was happy to hear that. ... I can't believe I missed a transmission like that, though.

[But back to the point...] And yes, she was.
So. [He leans forward, lowering his voice a bit.] What was the rest of that stuff about? You had to save Luca's soul...and the only way you could do it is if you won a race? Did you Dive into Cocona? How long have you been working with the Grand Bell to do that to the Reyvateils?
[The last thing about the illusions and getting to the heart of the Tower doesn't quite seem as important to him, or at least it hasn't entered his line of questioning yet.]

I... guess I'll take this in order, huh?
[Croix takes a deep breath, but he doesn't look away and he's not planning on running - metaphorically, either.]
When Metafalica failed, we thought Luca died. It turns out that actually, her soul turned into the heart of the corrupted land, so to save her, we had to find it. [He shakes his head.] I don't know if I told you much about Jacqli or not, but she wanted the Heart of Gaea - Luca's soul - for herself. I had to get there first.
And... yeah. I Dived into Cocona. I didn't want to, but she insisted. ... Cocona is an IPD, and someone was hacking into the Infel Phira and reformatting everything. It would have killed her. ... It would have killed all of the IPDs. The only way to stop it was through Cocona's Cosmosphere.
[It's like these things get harder and harder to talk about... and the third point finally has him wincing, just slightly. But he's still not going anywhere.]
I'd been bringing in IPDs for containment since I got out of basic. [He sighs.] I... I didn't know. None of us did. We thought they were helping them and then returning them to their families. I still hated having to do it at all, but... we were told all of the best scientists and medics were working on finding a way to understand and stop the outbreaks. ... They weren't. They were experimenting on them instead. There was also a plan to find a way to make more IPDs, because of their potential power.
[He closes his eyes, thinking back to last year, when the two of them were in the maze-replication of the Sheriff's office.] ... So top secret that not even the knights knew everything that was going on.

So when and how did you learn the truth? [He remembers talking about it very briefly with him in the past, but he hasn't pried since.]

It's just never easy to handle.
