I'll not say as I'm surprised about the townfolk. They're not supposed to be there at all, at least not as far as I know. There were some doubles of them before, but those shouldn't be there either. You're half right about Ichijou, though. He's been living on the spacestation rather than in the town proper. Him being locked out is new.

Oh, aren't they? [He's not sure about that. In fact, he's making one right now, his eyebrows disappearing somewhere in his bangs and mouth pulling off ever so slightly to one side. Well, okay, it's really just him being skeptical that text faces are better, but close enough.]

then she starts to raise her eyebrows up and down with a wide grin, followed by winking, and then as she's grinning her sunglasses seem to naturally reflect sunlight off of them (that's how cool it is). finally, she makes a question mark mouth, somehow quite literally.]

These are my many faces! I bet you just made a funny face a minute ago, but I could barely tell.

[While he's seen enough aliens that her appearance isn't too startling, he does blink as she somehow manages to make her mouth turn into something that looks like a question mark, and it surprises him enough that he quite forgets he's supposed to be making faces of his own.]

It's kind of a thing that might be impossible for you to do! I just make the expression and it happens; maybe after many years of trying to make it myself I'm able to actually do it.

If you practice it, then eventually you can probably do it.
