Day 16 | ~ Separation ~

[worldsapart]

[The CAT feed turns on to video, but for a moment all you see is a blur of darkness and streaks of light. It catches the panicked voice of a teenage boy in mid-sentence.]

-- n't know what's going on --

[Finally, the video settles on a round boyish face, seeming to be roughly the age of sixteen or so, with an untamed mess of brown spiky hair and wide frantic eyes that are incredibly and vibrantly blue. The lighting on his face is strange, pale-green and ghostly, but judging by the kid's background, it seems he's in a... cave?]

Doctor! Doctor, can you hear me? Where are you?! Are you okay?! Doctor!

[His voice is desperate and too many kinds of scared. It's as if he's terrified his world is ending.]

[his tone grows frustrated--not with her, but because he's been cut off from them] I know, I know, but... [he lets out a breath, calmer now] I trust you. I know you and Jamie can help those people, and stop things once and for all. For now, focus on that and I'll figure out a way to get you both back here.

[there are a couple options, but he can't remember the last time he even used a particular function...]

We didn't... [We weren't fast enough.] It's happening again...?

[Xion's free hand clenches into a fist at her side. But she takes in a deep breath and lets it out. The Doctor's right. They still have people to help. He may not be there, but they are, and they can still do something about this.]

Okay. We'll keep checking out the cave. I'll let you know whenever we find something new, okay?

[bit_impossible]

[slowly] Yup... Happened sooner than I expected. Someone must really love this town--and us right in it. [that said, he immediately frowns] Though why you and Jamie were left... [he trails off, his mid already off on several lines of thought about that]

Hmm? Ah yes, do!

[worldsapart]

Do you know what might be going on, Doctor? [With the separation, she means. In the meantime, she and Jamie are walking through the cave.]

[shakes his head] Not exactly, but I've got a feeling it's related to that message we received a while ago.

[he remembers trying to track the signal back to the source and failing. might have been a bit of a blow to his ego.]

[worldsapart]

Probably. I was just hoping... maybe... [She sighs.] Well. We'll just have to stop everything again.

[bit_impossible]

[he'd pat her on the head if he were still there] I know. And we will do, for good this time.

One more thing, Xion, and this is very, very important. [he pauses for a second, the pause signifying just how important this truly is] Is the TARDIS still there?

[worldsapart]

I... [Xion stops, blinking.] I don't know. We're still in the cave, so... I mean -- We still understand each other, but is it the TARDIS doing that or is it the CAT?

[bit_impossible]

The TARDIS, I'd imagine, but the CAT does have some translation properties of its own, I suppose... [he knows it does, but it pales in comparison to his old girl's translation circuits and capabilities] She must still be there, then. If either of you get into trouble, go back to the TARDIS.

[Xion nods and flashes him a sunny smile.]
