Day 16 | ~ Separation ~

[The CAT feed turns on to video, but for a moment all you see is a blur of darkness and streaks of light. It catches the panicked voice of a teenage boy in mid-sentence.]

-- n't know what's going on --

[Finally, the video settles on a round boyish face, seeming to be roughly the age of sixteen or so, with an untamed mess of brown spiky hair and wide frantic eyes that are incredibly and vibrantly blue. The lighting on his face is strange, pale-green and ghostly, but judging by the kid's background, it seems he's in a... cave?]

Doctor! Doctor, can you hear me? Where are you?! Are you okay?! Doctor!

[His voice is desperate and too many kinds of scared. It's as if he's terrified his world is ending.]

[It takes Jamie a second to notice, as he's trying to peer through the darkness. Was the Doctor taken down one of these tunnels? But he turns back, just in time to see those panicked tears start, and quickly moves to place a comforting hand on Xion's shoulder.]

Hey...hey, there's no need to greet. We'll find him. He can't have gone far.

[... greet, what

She takes in a deep, shaky breath and lets it out. Jamie's right... She should calm down. Panicking won't help, even if he is in trouble.

... it's hard, though. It still feels like something is squeezing her chest and her head.]

I... yeah. Yeah, maybe you're right. Maybe... Maybe he's just farther in...

[Remind Jamie to give Xion a lesson in 'odd Scottish words' sometime when things aren't so dire. It won't do her any good to panic - or him, for that matter, even though it's tempting. He squeezes her shoulder.]

Aye. Look, let's go a bit further in and see if we can find any sign of him. And if not we'll try and raise him on the CAT, all right?

[As long as he's actually somewhere where he can get through to them on it, and not, say, unconscious or worse.

...Maybe he'd best not mention those possibilities to Xion right now.]

Okay. All right. Let's go look...

[Xion's going to lead the way. She manages to slow herself down enough that her movements are cautious, but her eyes keep scanning quickly.]

Right, let's go then.

[Although it's not going to be so easy for her to lead, because about three steps in he takes advantage of a slightly wider space in the tunnel they've gone down to slip in front of her and try and take that job himself. Now that he knows Xion's actually a girl, he's not about to let her go where she might get hurt. Not if he can help it.]

[Xion's oblivious of his protectiveness, but she's surprised and a little confused when he hastens to take the lead. She lets him have it, though; she figures if he wants to be in front, he can be in front. It isn't a big deal.]

[Well, that saves an argument, at least. And so he continues down the maze of tunnels, leading them both eventually to a main tunnel. And once the Doctor's checked in, they continue on to find what they can find.]
