◌ 025 ◌ Did you ever see the one where...
[The video starts up with Fuu sitting on a shady bench in the park. She twirls a mechanical pencil idly in one hand and looks up at the sky with a slightly bored look on her face. She then looks down into the CAT.]
Please pardon me, but I've become a bit nostalgic and thought I might ask a question.
Does anyone else rather miss television? I suppose some of you don't have it... If you are curious perhaps you could come visit with me and I will tell you about it. And if you did have it, would you like to come and chat with me about it? I'd love to hear about programs on other planets!
[Fuu being Fuu, this is just her way of saying she wants to talk some ideas out with people~ (for all that she honestly is curious about television on alien worlds!) But the certainty that they are being observed makes her wary. >.>]

[She takes a seat and pulls out the tea and two cups from a bag.]
A little refreshment?

Well, I'll try to be as concise as I can, but I'd be happy to tell you more about the context if you like.
[She drops her voice, ever wary of being overheard.]
When I was going over the message we got from Nathan, I got to thinking about the kind of words the man was using. To me, it reminded me of the spectacle of people on television. And he mentioned a 'break in the programming'. Television shows are usually scheduled for, say, once a week. Always at the same time.
[She pauses for a moment to make sure that Hawk is still following her. He was one of the best at doing so, but this must all be pretty unfamiliar to him.]

Oh… like a stage? So a 'break in the programming' means they'd have to skip a week of the… show? [He thinks he has a pretty good idea of it.]

[She nods enthusiastically - he gets it.]
Right. In my country, there were games that they showed publicly. Some shows took contestants and put them in very challenging courses, or gave them hard questions to answer. And they would be punished if they got something wrong.
Sound a bit familiar?

It does. [He looks down at the cup, rolling it between his hands.] So, that's probably what's going on here… Do the people in the games choose to be part of them?
no subject
Sometimes they do. Sometimes it is random people off the street.
I have to admit that what we have heard so far fits with this... I couldn't say for certain that this is what it is, or that it explains everything that is going on, but... it's possible?

What other kinds of shows are there? [looking up at her now]

And she smiles at his question, because at that she feels that the atmosphere has changed to something less serious.]
All sorts of things! Everything from news to comedy to fictional drama and sports...

Sure!
[And Fuu launches into one of her favourite Manzai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manzai) acts - she has the whole thing memorized. The effect of the performance is only ruined by her laughing at the jokes as she tries to tell them. (Hopefully the puns will translate all right with the magic of Luministi translation...)]

That's great! Have you ever done anything like it?
