[Sophie is in the Town Square again, though this time with a very large shopping bag set on the ground at her feet. while she is standing calmly enough, there are some subtle signs of the anxiety and exhaustion that she's been feeling lately. her hair isn't quite as neat as usual, and her dress looks a tad wrinkled. in fact, it's a new dress--forest green, edged in lace, but a very simple design overall. the skirt of it is very loose, clearly designed with plenty of leeway, for a reason that those looking closely at her might notice. at this point in her pregnancy, Sophie has started to show a small baby bump]

Hello again, everyone. [she clasps her hands in front of her as she talks, that calm expression becoming a bit more nervous. she glances around, as though concerned about being overheard, before she continues] Many of you asked me for charms before, and I've finished them all. If you'd like to meet me in the Town Square, I have them here.

This would also be a good opportunity to discuss other recent...events, as well. In person is best, I think. [she smiles somewhat grimly]

I look forward to talking to all of you. [reaching out to the CAT, she ends the transmission]

Oh! Last time, she used that to find the antidote during the poisoning. I imagine she wanted to see if it would reveal anything this time. [thoughtfully] I'll have to ask her if it worked.

They did? [Sophie doesn't even try to hide her disappointment] Oh, confound it! I killed them, only weeks ago! Gah, this town is impossible!

If...? [Sophie's words are expectant--almost sharp, in her annoyance over the revival of the chihuahua and other greenery]

[she continues to frown at him] But Jamie, don't you see? The Doctor remembers travelling with you, and you do as well--when you're asleep, at least. Do you really think that doesn't mean anything?

[The answer to 'If...?' remains unspoken, at least for now. Instead, he gives her a somewhat vexed look when she continues to frown at him.]

Aye, well, supposing you're right and it's not my mind playing tricks on me... I've not been able to recall anything once I wake up, so what good is it if I am actually remembering something when I'm asleep?

[she looks a little unhappy at that response; Jamie has a point] Ah, that's true. But the Doctor would know, and he could tell you more. [and she well knows that, failing that, he could tell Sophie more instead]

Or perhaps... [Sophie trails off, thinking for a long moment] I might be able to do something about that.

[He's still looking skeptical about the notion - even if the Doctor told him more, would he believe it? However, even with that, he finds himself wondering what she means by her last statement, and some curiosity creeps into his voice.]

Oh, aye? You've some sort of idea, then?

[she nods, a clear idea starting to develop in her mind] Yes, I do. It's not something I've tried before, but a memory charm shouldn't be difficult.

A...memory charm? Ye mean, like the one ye made me, but it would do something to my memory instead?

Yes, exactly. And not just anything--it could help you remember things you've forgotten. Or even just help you remember your dreams, really...

[It doesn't sound too bad, when she puts it like that. And he has to admit, it's starting to get a bit frustrating that he knows he's dreaming but can't remember what it is he's dreamed about.]

Well, I suppose it couldn't hurt to try it. That is, if you'd be willing to make one for me.

[Sophie nods, relieved--and surprised, honestly--that she doesn't have to argue more to convince him] Of course! What would you like me to make this time?

Erm... [Jamie glances down at himself, trying to think. It's the same problem he had last time. What can he come up with that would work?]

I'd say a bonnet, but I'd not ask ye to do a hat if you'd not want to. Stockings, maybe? [He gestures down to the ones he's wearing, which stop just above his calf.] Or maybe a soft belt of some sort?

[He could always wrap that around his waist under his plaid, he thinks.]

[Sophie cringes at the bonnet suggestion, relieved that it's not Jamie's only idea. she seizes quickly on the other suggestions] Yes, I could make stockings. Or a belt, if you'd prefer. [thoughtfully] Stockings would be simpler, though--and easy to sew the charm into. Would you like them to look like the ones you have?

[The stockings are quite utilitarian, actually, having been knit out of a beigeish-coloured yarn and lacking any noticeable decoration.]

Aye, well, as long as they'll stand up to a wee bit of dirt I suppose it doesn't matter much if they look different. Mind ye, I'd prefer they not be too fancy.

[Or pink, but he thinks that goes without saying.]

Do ye need me to give ye one for a pattern?

[Sophie definitely catches his meaning. really, it's refreshing to be making something for someone who doesn't want it to be overly fancy] If you want them to look the same, yes. Otherwise, I'd just have to guess at the sort of yarn--and the pattern. But they aren't your only pair, are they?

No. There's the ones from the shop, but they're not quite the same.

Well, that would give you some to wear in the meantime. I suppose it depends on how similar you want these to be.

Aye, well. I'd not mind having another pair like these, so...

[Abruptly, Jamie sits down on the edge of the fountain and starts to remove his boot. Shortly after, he thrusts out a sock at Sophie. Luckily, he's just washed them, so it's relatively clean.]

I suppose the others will do until ye can get this back to me.

[she takes the sock gingerly, sniffing discreetly just to be sure it's clean as she does so. she nods] I'll have that charm for you soon, then. And please do remember to keep the other with you. [because she's sure Jamie's exploring isn't done yet--not to mention there's no telling what might be coming in this town]

I already do. [He reaches into his shirt and pulls out a bit of the kerchief Sophie charmed for him so she can see, then tucks it away and starts to put his boot back on. It won't hurt him to go a little while without one stocking.]

I should get back, but you're sure you'll be all right until the others get here?

[well, that's a relief, at least. but at that question, she's sighing inwardly. really, Jamie, you worry too much] I'm perfectly fine, yes. Thank you, Jamie.

[Somebody has to.] Good. I'll be in touch with ye if I find out more information.

And I will do the same.
