[Sophie is in the Town Square again, though this time with a very large shopping bag set on the ground at her feet. while she is standing calmly enough, there are some subtle signs of the anxiety and exhaustion that she's been feeling lately. her hair isn't quite as neat as usual, and her dress looks a tad wrinkled. in fact, it's a new dress--forest green, edged in lace, but a very simple design overall. the skirt of it is very loose, clearly designed with plenty of leeway, for a reason that those looking closely at her might notice. at this point in her pregnancy, Sophie has started to show a small baby bump]

Hello again, everyone. [she clasps her hands in front of her as she talks, that calm expression becoming a bit more nervous. she glances around, as though concerned about being overheard, before she continues] Many of you asked me for charms before, and I've finished them all. If you'd like to meet me in the Town Square, I have them here.

This would also be a good opportunity to discuss other recent...events, as well. In person is best, I think. [she smiles somewhat grimly]

[she turns at the voice, nodding back] Hello, Agent Washington.

I doubt it's much different from being in our homes. They watch us in any case, and I do have people meeting me.

[looks up at the cameras pointed right at them] Fair enough. I do question if it's still wise considering your current condition, though. [observant Wash is very observant] Have you been to any of the medical staff in town to monitor the progression?

[fortune_sought]

[Sophie's expression tightens] I think the baby will be safer without this town's medical staff. But I have spoken to other residents who know a little.

[vengefulagent]

[that causes him to raise an eyebrow--though she can't exactly see that, but his tone definitely conveys that sort of feeling] And yet, you've avoided the medical clinic even though Dr. Resarci seems to have no memory of his past transgressions against you and the previous visitors to the town.

[fortune_sought]

[scoffs] I don't see how the fact that he doesn't recall betraying us makes him any less the sort of person who would do it! No, I'm much safer without his "help."

[vengefulagent]

[lets out a small, wry laugh] Well good. You're making the safer decision there, at least.

Speaking of safe, I believe you mentioned something about those charms?

[fortune_sought]

Yes. [Sophie is actually rather gratified that he agrees with her, at that]

Oh, yes! I have your handkerchief. [she reaches into her bag, digging about for a moment before she withdraws a simple white handkerchief with a gray and gold checkerboard-patterned lining] Will this do? [offers it to him]

[vengefulagent]

[looks at it for a second and is amused by the colored pattern on it] Suppose it will. [holds his hand out to take it from her] Thank you.

[fortune_sought]

[smiles. she can tell that he approves] You're welcome. [she offers him his original handkerchief back, too]

But I was hoping to talk to you as well. I imagine you've been exploring the town?

[vengefulagent]

[he takes both back, though he does wonder why he has two now. he'll probably leave the original somewhere in his home]

I have, several times. But I've been doing surveillance lately. I believe Mister Braxiatel is pleased about that. Why do you ask?

[fortune_sought]

[she is not surprised to hear that Braxiatel is glad to have someone else running surveillance]

I was wondering if you'd found anything of interest. I've been to several places myself and found some unexpected things.

[vengefulagent]

You mean aside from the townspeople randomly disappearing and leaving everything right where it was while they were using it? [and the other things he's observed people finding, but he doesn't mention that] Then no, I haven't seen anything of note. But keep in mind I have only been here for a short time; such things wouldn't stand out to someone with my perspective of the situation.

Now what exactly have you found?

[she thought someone as military-oriented as Washington would have looked into more about the murder, but perhaps she was mistaken] Oh, I see.

Notes and interviews related to a murder the last time we were here. Also, things related to a mass poisoning--in particular, information about how that poison was made, as well as its antidote.

[vengefulagent]

[oh, he is looking into it quite extensively, but he's curious to hear what you've heard first, Sophie.]

A mass poisoning, eh? [a short pause] Wait. Something like that happened before the last time, correct?

[fortune_sought]

[and she's curious as to why he would lie about something so simple]

Yes, and that's exactly what the information was related to. [dryly] I thought it a terribly interesting choice for Dr Resarci to leave that lying around in his clinic.

[vengefulagent]

[see, he doesn't lie. he just doesn't show all of his cards at once, and since the situation is under control and no one is at risk of getting harmed, he sees no reason to reveal what he knows at this time. however, this particular snippet of information is new to him.]

This Dr. Resarci has no memory of the events from the last time a group of strangers was here. If this is absolutely true, then he'd have no recollection of the reason why he hid that information to begin with and would just assume that information was supposed to be there as it was.

[skeptical] A poison and its antidote? No, I don't think anyone would leave such things lying about without a reason, whether they remember the details or not. And who's to say that Dr Resarci was the one who left them?

[vengefulagent]

[he enjoys your line of thought, Sophie]

You tell me. If you want my opinion, I'd say someone wanted you to find those documents, but since both the poison and antidote were left out, I'd almost wonder if you'll have to use them in the future. 'How' would be up to you.

[she likes his line of thought, too. she nods, considering] Yes, I think you're right. Or at the least, they've been left as a clear clue to recent events.
