[Hawk's on the observation deck, hands tucked into pockets. He's a little restless and shifting from foot to foot, though he's trying not to let that show too much.] Amazing view, isn't it? I've never seen the stars this close. [quietly, mostly to himself] I wonder if the Holyland would be like this.

[attention attention on the CAT, now] Seems like a good spot for a farewell party, if anyone wants to do that. Haven't got anything much right now, but I'm sure we can all grab things we like.

[Fuu grins at the description. Her first impression that Hawk is from an RPG-like world is not being dissuaded at all!]
I'm afraid I couldn't say! But you could be on to something. The way we understand stars, they are huge balls of flame. It takes the romance out of it, of course... but perhaps in your world, stars really are flame-and-light spirits!

[And she applauds at Hawk picking up a roll!]
You got it! And I guarantee that it will taste all the better for your effort in getting it.

Hmm. Trying to touch those would be dangerous. We'd have to go to them to find out, though, I think! Luna has a presence on the ground of our world, but they must be almost as far as the stars. I don't know if we could do that yet, though. [and they should probably sort out Mana first]

Really? [in it goes, and he grins after swallowing it] You're right!

[Trying to sound affirmative] Ah, well, if it's meant to happen, you'll find a way!

[And a bright smile at that!] I'm glad you like it. Do you have anything like it in your world?

I guess we'll just have to see. What about you guys? Can you go to the stars?

Mm… Palo does something like it, but not exactly. They don't really do it up like this.

Oh, we can leave the planet for the moon and we have very strong telescopes, but we can't go there. Yet. [grin~] [But from what Mister Braxiatel said, the time would come. And all the troubles that would come with the privilege.]

I see! I'm glad that you don't mind new things, then.
Perhaps you could show me how it's done on your world? And I could teach you how to make this... [She trails off, feeling conflicted. She dearly wants to return home, but is also terribly worried about it. Delay should be unthinkable, but she wants to spend time on something like cooking lessons?]

So someday, maybe? I hope it's someday soon!

I figure it's good to learn about these things when you come across them. [picking up one of the slices of fish on rice, but hesitates] Fuu? Everything all right?

Yes! Yes, everything-- [She cuts off, wide smile fading. No, he deserves her honesty.]

...No, I'm afraid that everything is not all right. But I don't want to burden you, and you've already made me feel so much more cheerful already...

[puts the sushi down for the moment] I don't like seeing you upset, though. If I can help… even if it's just listening.

[She smiles at that.]
Rather like our first meeting, isn't it? We were able to listen to each other.

[She hesitates, but then nods slightly.]

Thank you, Hawk. I fear that listening might be the only help you might be able to give, however. But... if you truly don't mind, perhaps it would be good to talk about it.

Yeah.

Even if it's all I can do, I'd like to do it. [a smile. would she object to an arm around her?]

[She gives a start as the arm comes across her shoulder and blushes deeply, but doesn't object. It's the comforting arm of a friend, and she's certain that if Hikaru or Umi were here, they would do the same.]

[For a while she looks down into her lap, then starts speaking without raising her eyes.]

To put it simply... going home is the thing I wanted most this whole time. To be able to go back to my family and friends. To tell them I'm all right.
But now, faced with going back, I wonder how I can possibly explain what happened. How can my parents forgive me for being missing for over three months?

[Three months…]

You couldn't help it, though. I think they'd understand it if you were trapped. Besides, I'm sure they'd be glad enough you came home. [a little unsure, but he's doing his best not to let it show]

[Shakes her head slightly]
Yes... I'm sure that they will be glad just to have me back, but then how can I honestly face their questions? When I came back from Cephiro I was able to avoid it because we returned mere moments after we left. But this time...
If I say I was kidnapped and trapped but was able to escape, the police will investigate - try to find out what happened, where I was taken, how I got away. If I say I forgot everything, they will certainly worry about my missing three months of memory. No one - nearly no one - will believe the truth.

[Gives a breathy sigh and glances over to him.]
It will be... complicated, no matter what I do.

I guess hearing that it was in another world would be too much for people. [it could also make people kind of paranoid, and nobody wants that.

He hugs her gently, and leans back, thinking. She's too responsible to just go wandering, and that would get her into trouble anyway.]

Maybe you could say it was some kind of surprise schooling?

[The blush is never going to fade if he keeps doing that~]

[chuckles softly]
Oh, I'm afraid that wouldn't work. Our school is far too structured for something like that. But thank you for the thought!

[She tilts her head as she thinks. If only she could have asked Mister Braxiatel about it before he'd left... Or if she could know that jumping worlds always resulted in no loss of time in the original one.]
[But then, she had never asked.]

Perhaps I'm just too used to the residents never giving us a straight answer, we never asked what exactly would happen to us when we went back. If we could be captured across all worlds and times, perhaps we could be put back--

[She cuts off, trying to keep her hope in check.]

Oh.[a little disappointed- but it was worth a shot.]

I think we might be able to get a straight answer now. I don't know, but it's worth asking before leaving.

Hopefully. [he's not sure he has any good luck talismans on him at the moment, but he'll have a look through his pockets anyway]

[And while he's doing that, Fuu pulls out her CAT. Still so useful! (And she's still hoping she can manage to sneak it back home with her.)]

I suppose if anyone would know, it would be the Mayor. And he should answer back promptly now...

[So she rings him up and questions him as to whether they will be returned to the same time and space that they left from. Unfortunately (but not unexpectedly) he can offer no comment on the matter one way or the other.]

[She politely thanks him, but once she turns off the CAT she sighs, clearly disappointed.]

[he stops looking through his pockets briefly] That doesn't look like good news.

[and he's found what he was looking for- a few dice hidden away in the depth of one pocket. He picks out the two that look most likely to be Good Luck Dice and holds them in one hand loosely, ready to roll them] Pick a number between one and six.

I'm afraid so.

[surprised and curious] Oh? Um, three.

I suppose all we can do is hope for the best, then. [slumps a little, looking worried and not entirely thrilled with that prospect]

All right. [rolls! and gets a four and a one, so he picks up the one that rolled four and hands it to her] Seems like this one's got more luck in it. Every little bit helps, right? [smiles]

[She nods sadly. He had been taken in the midst of a very important event himself. She hopes that Jessica will be all right.]

[Takes the die but still looks at Hawk with surprise.]
I suppose every little bit does help... how does it work?

Well, they're mostly used for games, but they act like charms, too- if you hold them, they draw luck to the bearer, that sort of thing. There's supposed to be a way to activate them so you get some kind of energy boost, but I think they're more useful as dice.

Just by holding it? [She folds her fingers around it and smiles kindly. She then suddenly looks at him with concern.] Are you certain that it's all right for me to have it though? You'll need luck when you go back too!

I'll get through. I'm a naturally lucky guy, after all~! [most of the time, anyway] Besides, I think I had another one somewhere.

Ah, then, if you're certain... [She smiles brightly at him.] Thank you so much! It will be a lucky memento to remind me of you. Ah! And in return, in return...

[She ducks to rummage in her school bag. She makes a couple disappointed noises - it's not like she can give him a page of homework, and the package of cookies that was left is completely crushed. She's on the verge of wondering if he'd accept a pair of plastic chopsticks that she finds at the bottom of the bag when she spots a little white string poking out of a book. Oh, she'd completely forgotten about it! Triumphantly she takes the little blue charm (http://www.kaboodle.com/hi/img/b/0/0/a/3/AAAAC74LHq0AAAAAAAo-Bg.png) out of where it had been wedged in the book and holds it out to Hawk.]
