[it probably comes as no surprise to anyone who knows her that, when Sophie's CAT activates seemingly without her consent, it shows Sophie looking terribly annoyed] What do you mean by asking questions like this just to go in!? I have a headache, and I would like some tea, and you are going to open this door!

[she is standing outside the tearoom, her hands on her hips and definitely not a mood to deal with the hologram in front of her, currently displaying a trivia question: What is the name of the reptilian race that, by the 25th century, dominated a large portion of the galaxy matched only by their rival and sometimes enemy the Earth Empire?]

I have no idea what you're even referring to! Open the door! [grabs the knob, but the door doesn't budge. instead, an angry tone sounds to reveal to Sophie that she has answered incorrectly]

[she lets out a cry of frustration] Curses! Open!

[unfortunately, as she tries the knob again, another hologram appears, this time with the question: What is the name of the weapon that can both unlock all doors and people's hearts?]

[gapes] Whatever it is, it must be black magic indeed! Stop this nonsense and let me in!

[observers might be able to guess that she's been at this for a while. in fact, one by one, strands of her hair have been changing to orange yarn, though not enough to be easily visible yet. she's also about two inches shorter than she should be and her left foot is composed of fabric rather than skin. this is not a good day for Sophie]

[Sophie isn't much bothered about hiding her changes. why bother, really, when they all know it's happening] Where do you keep your tea? [starts rooting around, withdrawing the kettle and filling it with water]

Over here. [Xion reaches up into a cabinet and tugs it open -- it's a bit too high for her, but it's not too much of a hassle.]

Oh, I see. What kind would you like? [joins her at that cabinet. normally it wouldn't be too high for Sophie, but she has a feeling it's barely within reach at the moment]

Um... Any's okay with me. [=x]

Then let's see... [is on tip-toes trying to get a look] Ah! Earl Grey. [snatches it down] Let's get the kettle on the range, and then perhaps we can find something to eat with it. What do you think?

What do you normally eat with tea?

Scones. Or teacakes or biscuits, if you prefer. What do you have? [moves back over to the kettle to put it on the range]

I don't know if they're... teacakes, but I have little cakes? [=x] I got them from the bakery. They're very good.

That sounds just perfect! Where are they?

Over here. [Xion goes over and stands on her tiptoes to reach another cabinet, and she tugs the cakes down.]

Good. Now all we need is for the water to boil. [turns back to the teapot, whispering:] You do want to get a bit warmer, don't you? It's such a nice fire, after all.

[Xion watches her, head tilted.]

[whispers to the teapot a bit more--until it obligingly starts to whistle] Ah, there were are! [takes the kettle off the range] Could you get two teacups?

Uh -- Sure...

How... How did you do that?

Hm? Oh, I just encouraged it to heat up a bit more quickly.

[is confused by Xion's confusion. isn't it obvious?] With magic.

That's... magic?

[blushes] Yes, of course. It's not the common way to cast spells, but it does work.

I've never seen or heard of magic like that before.

Well. [still embarrassed] It's just the same as what I did with those statues from the gardens.

Really, I've been thinking about trying something else... [turns, looking Xion up and down thoughtfully]

Something... else? [._. wh-why is she looking at her like that]

Yes, I... [hesitates; she's been avoiding sharing this, if only because she really isn't sure she can make it work. but with Xion, she isn't sure what to make anyway, so she at least has to say something. plus, that nervous!puppy face is hard to avoid] I...think it could be helpful, if all the residents had a piece of clothing with a protective charm on it. I'm not sure I can make one, but I do plan to try. Is there anything you'd like?

[Xion blinks.] A... charm? [Her thoughts go to Oathkeeper.]

[she is feeling so self-conscious right now] Yes. If you'd rather, if you have clothing that needs to be mended, I may be able to sew a charm into it.
