Everyone, I have some very interesting information to share with you.

Upon the Sheriff's recommendation, I messaged the Mayor directly to ask about this 'new resident program' of his. I'm pleased to say that after some time, he did reply personally.

Now, both him and the Sheriff were surprised that I'm even asking about this, because they are under the impression that we signed up to be here. Well, have a look at the video that he sent me - I've managed to attach it to this message.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure that I didn't sign up to be here. But I believe that we did all have that mysterious flash and the tall man in a black suit, with a black hat, I think? And perhaps carrying something. So, I tried to ask the Mayor if his recruiter looks like that. I also asked if I could review my application to the program.

However, my request was met with more lovely resident side-stepping. Miss Osculia replied that the applications are confidential and not available to view after they've been submitted. Now, do any of you know about privacy laws? Because I'm quite certain that there should be nothing restricting the one who filled out the form from reviewing it. If you can think of an argument so that we can see our forms, it might be worth a try.

Either way, I hope this helps. Miss Osculia's supposed to let me know when the Mayor is available to 'address my concerns'...

Anyways, I'm glad I took the Sheriff's advice to try messaging the Mayor directly, instead of going through Miss Osculia. Look at what happened! And if she doesn't get back to me, I just might have to try messaging him again.

As does everything else in this town.

You do have to wonder! For all that his 'top priority' is the 'happiness of the citizens', and he 'cannot wait to meet us in person', what is he really up to? Didn't even appear at the septennial ceremonies, did he. I wonder if Miss Verita might know something about that.

Oh, something is telling me that too! You're right - three times I've made an appointment, but he wasn't able to make it to any of them.

You're not going to break through these. The letter of the law is rather firm on this one, and the spirit would overrule you even if you could twist the laws into something. It isn't merely that they can't; they don't want to. So they won't.

And why would they want to protect it so fiercely when we came voluntarily? More and more fishy, I'm afraid.

... That's quite a bit. Honestly, I'm not surprised to hear that the "seven hundred years of history mysteriously vanished." It's like they don't want us to know anything.

I looked to see if he'd show up, but he didn't. Then again, he could have been somewhere else at the time. The whole town was busy with the fête activities, and he is just one man.

You know...there's something else, though. There was a message I got with that pair of rather interesting sunglasses, and it whomever wrote it was rather insistent on opening it in the loo. Now, why suggest such a thing unless that person knew there was some sort of recording device around--aside from our CATs, that is. We've already seen evidence of nanotechnology in use to affect disease, so why stop there? Why not use a cloaking technology similar to what was used to disguise the phone booth on some crafty little bugs planted throughout our flats? Or...even throughout the entire town?

That does seem to be a recurring theme.

However, there does seem to be someone out there who is trying to give us clues. How trustworthy they are is another matter, but at least it's more than the residents are giving us.
...Except perhaps the Sheriff. He has probably given me the most straight answers out of anyone here.

[She proceeds to talk about the clues from the greenhouse box, the sunglasses and the phone booth, and the CAT message after her interview with the Sheriff.]

The timing of that last one was very fishy, but there's not a lot else to suspect the Sheriff by. Most of the clues seem to point to Doctor Resarci, but I can't help but feel that he at least has an accomplice.

Where else would there to be than at your town's most important festival? A Mayor has to show up to something like that. If it were Tokyo, the press would be all over it. ...But they weren't. That is to say, Miss Verita, the news, didn't say a thing about it.

Ah, yes, that note. It really confirmed that someone is observing us. I had a similar thought that we were under surveillance - like Candid Camera or something - but I never thought that there could be invisible, cloaked cameras! And everywhere through the whole town?
Scary...
There could very well be cloaked people too?

[Her fright of being constantly observed is slipping in under the persistent happy feelings.]

[raises an eyebrow at the 'again' comment]

My world has magic, yes, although I am not sure why that would interest someone here.

Keep that in mind. Bad liars tend to break when confronted with the flaws in their own lies.

Ah, well, it's hard - near on impossible! - to tell what exactly they are after anyways. The choice of people they brought here is as eclectic as the town itself!

Oh! Sophie and I were at the booth... and the greenhouse too.... [she frowns] They're kinda cryptic, but our mysterious friend probably can't help us out in the open.

You're probably right. One person can't do all of this on his own.

Why all the mystery? I feel like I'm going around in circles, trying to figure this out.

Wouldn't it be great if the mysterious friend just out-right said, 'this person is the one to watch!'. Would be so much easier, but it never happens that way.

And there are for sure at least two factions in the town. I suppose you could say those 'for' the program, and those 'against', in general. For sure there are several key people on each side. Doctor Resarci called the last warning message 'malicious propaganda' and said that someone with concerns about the program should go through the proper channels and not sabotage it. But going so far as to murder someone?

We very well could have missed him. Or perhaps he went incognito to blend in, never minding how blending in is so overrated these days. Those are viable possibilities, even if I don't fully believe them myself.

But speaking of possibilities...unfortunately Fuu, that could be one as well. Never underestimate what technology of that kind can do--and what it can be used for.

In disguise... I suppose so, but it's still very strange to me. [Fuu can't help but feel that the Mayor dishonoured the town by not publically showing up at the festival. A grave mistake.]

Even in the short time of being here I've seen technology far beyond my imaginings. It's hard to even estimate what it's capable of, let alone underestimate!

Oh, I'm sure you'll hear this through the grapevine, but Verita and I confronted doctor Resarci the other day. I was confident that the clues given to us point to him, and he did run away from me as I kept asking him questions, but I didn't get anything much out of him. Except a lot of irritation. (I hope he doesn't try to get back at me later.)
He's for sure hiding something, but I feel like he's... more like an accomplice. There is still a lot to find out.

Oh did you? I heard something similar from the other Doctor. But Resarci... He's an accomplice, sure, but for which crime? So far, there are several of them to think of.

Oh? Was the Doctor able to find out anything? Perhaps doctor Resarci paid more attention to him, because he's an adult. Being fourteen is seriously a disadvantage sometimes.

Hah, which crime indeed... It seems like doctor Resarci is more out to get us than the regular residents.
