luministi | θ-10 Come one, come all!

[As soon as the sun as set, Doctor John Smith is up in a grassy area somewhere off near the malt shop, with a peculiar setup before him. But...those who know a thing or two about pyrotechnics will know exactly what he's about to do.]

[He turns his CAT on, a big, broad and excited grin on his face]

Hellooooooooooooo Luministi!!! It's that time of year again, and as always, the Mayor has asked me to kick off the celebration with a little display. [there's a mischievous twinkle in her eye] Not even Soph knows what I've got planned this year, so! I think it's about time I show you!

[He shuts the CAT off, and there is nothing for a few moments...

...but then, there's a high-pitched whine followed by an explosion of colour! One after another, fireworks shoot up into the air, and the good doc has not skimped on them. There are ones that change colors, shoot up into different formations, some that even transform from one shape to another.

The display will go on for a good hour, but while those are going on, the festivities have officially started! Parties in the town square with food, game, and drinking booths will go on. The rides are up in full force. There's even dancing going on in the southern shopping plaza area as well as the botanical gardens. Everything the mayor mentioned and more is there for everyone to partake in.]

[Wow, she knows who you are!! When she realizes that it's just Hawk, she simmers down to a standard "what are you doing" dullness and staaares. The jig is up, mister.]

[and aren't you glad you do? Hawk stops once he realises she's realises what he's up to, and grins at her.] Hey! So how's business?

[The most thinly veiled pout. Just for you, Hawk.]

[his grin dims a little, and he looks a little ashamed. Not quite as much as he should, but still.]

Hahaha… maybe! I've been thinking about getting something, lately. [He comes a little closer, peering at the rings.]

[Okay, now she feels a little bad. Thanks, Hawk!!]

Only if you want to. [Pause.] Does it have to do with Fuu, by any chance?

Ah, well… [he rubs at the back of his head, lips twitching up a little] I think it would be nice. Just… maybe something small.

[Hehehe. You are in good hands, dearest cousin of hers.]

What are her interests? Maybe we kind find something special for her.

Ah… well, she's working in the library, of course… She tinkers with the computers sometimes, too… she likes knowing things.

… I think something that matches her eyes would be good, too.

[So something green...? Kanaya reaches into a display case and pulls out a pair of earrings, laying them on the glass for him to see.]

I'm quite fond of these. They're made of nephrite jade, so they will be easy to manage. We also have...

[She turns and bends to dig around in a box out of sight. When she emerges, she pulls out a headband and this thing.]

A headband, and this one's a bookmark.

Ah… those do look nice. [He reaches out to pick one up for a closer look. He's not sure about earrings, though, and puts it down again when Kanaya brings out the headband and bookmark, leaning in a little.] The bookmark would get a fair bit of use… how much is it?

[She names a price, about as much as a hardcover book would cost.]

And if you want, I'll show you how to make paper roses to go along with it. Maybe you can make a bouquet of them, I think it would be really sweet.

[he whistles, eyes going a little wide, and looks at the bookmark again, considering. It is very nice, though…]

Mm… Could you, then? Is it possible to make other kinds of flowers, too? [he smiles, hand going to his pocket for his wallet.]

It may take some experimentation, but I think we can manage other kinds, yes.

[She puts a finger to her chin, looks around for a moment, and then bends down to pick out a paper rose from a box.]

I was thinking of decorating the booth with these, but decided against it. They take a bit of time to make, so maybe we can make them together when the festival is over.

[He brightens, beaming at her, and leans in for a closer look at the paper rose.]

I'm sure everyone would have been very impressed, though! [He leans back, CAT held loosely in one hand.] Sounds good. Should we make a time now, or…?

[Beep. CAT scanned.]

I have time now, but don't you want to see more of the festival?

[he laughs, and nods] It'd be hard to concentrate on them while all this is going on, anyway. And- have you gotten to see much of it yet?

A little. Did you know deep fried butter was a thing? It's rather impressive.

[he grimaces a little, sticking out his tongue] I didn't see that! Maybe that's lucky for me, though. Did you try it?

[She can't disagree with that.]

For better or worse, my courage fails to match my curiosity. It was a popular stand, though.

Haha… I guess some people really will try anything! I'd rather go for something that won't threaten my heart.
