luministi | θ-10 Come one, come all!

[As soon as the sun as set, Doctor John Smith is up in a grassy area somewhere off near the malt shop, with a peculiar setup before him. But...those who know a thing or two about pyrotechnics will know exactly what he's about to do.]

[He turns his CAT on, a big, broad and excited grin on his face]

Hellooooooooooooo Luministi!!! It's that time of year again, and as always, the Mayor has asked me to kick off the celebration with a little display. [there's a mischievous twinkle in her eye] Not even Soph knows what I've got planned this year, so! I think it's about time I show you!

[He shuts the CAT off, and there is nothing for a few moments...

...but then, there's a high-pitched whine followed by an explosion of colour! One after another, fireworks shoot up into the air, and the good doc has not skimped on them. There are ones that change colors, shoot up into different formations, some that even transform from one shape to another.

The display will go on for a good hour, but while those are going on, the festivities have officially started! Parties in the town square with food, game, and drinking booths will go on. The rides are up in full force. There's even dancing going on in the southern shopping plaza area as well as the botanical gardens. Everything the mayor mentioned and more is there for everyone to partake in.]

[Where there's food, there's Jamie. Since he's inbetween sets, he's currently taking the opportunity to visit the ice-cream booth the people at the Malt Shop are running - although he seems a wee bit more interested in the cute girl who is working there rather than the food itself. Doesn't mean that he won't take the time to chat with anyone else who's wandering by, though. You just may have to ask him to move if you want ice-cream, that's all.]

[and where there's ice cream, there's bound to eventually be terezi. she's already excited by the many different colors and is bouncing on the balls of her feet, giggling some here and there.]

Looks like no one got hurt in the tasty explosions! They really did a good job this year, I think. Which makes me wonder if any of the stuff here is just as good as the light show!

[The waitress, seeing that there's a customer, steps away from where she's talking to Jamie and over towards Terezi - which prompts a slightly disappointed look from the Scot. It does mean he's freed up for conversation, though.]

Aye, Dr. Smith always does. He's a clever man. I'd bet ye, though, the ice-cream'll be a wee bit safer to eat. What one's struck your fancy, then?

[she can smell the disappointment! it goes well with strawberry and blueberry she decides.]

The one with all of the flavors, minus chocolate!

[and then a little more bluntly while she's waiting with a mischievous grin:]

Is the nice lady your girlfriend?

[Nothing like a little fruit-flavored disappointment to make an afternoon, right? And all of the flavors minus chocolate is...going to take the waitress a bit to put together. Which she goes to do, leaving only Terezi there when Jamie reacts.]

My girl... No, she's not! We're just friends, that's all. Nothing more than that.

[Someone may be protesting that a bit too much there.]

[Somehow, Kon's managed to find the time to head over to the Malt Shop... if only to deliver extra cookies to the owners. Noticing Jaime immediately, he grins.]

Hey! How've the crowds been so far?

[And Jamie grins back - a slightly crooked grin, but a grin nevertheless.]

It's been busy enough here so far I've not had much of a chance to talk with wee Janet here, if that's what ye mean?

[The waitress playfully bats at Jamie's hand for the 'wee' comment, but nods in agreement. Jamie turns the grin on her, letting it stretch for a moment before eying that container of cookies.]

I'd say the crowds'll be good for later on when we play. Ye sure you've enough food to feed them all?

[Ah, young love. He kind of wishes the object of his affections at least knew he liked her... Jaime's beaten him in that regard.

He nods, glancing down at the container before setting it on the counter.] I'm pretty sure. And if not, well... we did order extra pounds of flour and sugar for another couple of batches.

[Jamie reaches for the container, only to have Janet snatch it up first. She grins and disappears inside the shop proper for a moment, leaving Jamie to look after her a bit wistfully. Maybe he's not so quite so far along with admitting things as he seems.]

Oh, have ye? Good, then maybe I'll have a shot at getting to have one myself. People keep seeming to make off with the things. Hey, are ye not going to get a chance to go off and enjoy the festival though?

[DID SOMEONE SAY ICE CREAM

I mean

Xion pops up at Jamie's elbow right at the moment he's especially distracted by the cute girl working the stand.]

Hi Jamie!

[Oh, isn't it just like family to pop up at the worst possible time? Jamie makes a small face at him, because things were going so well. But he can't stay mad long, because, well, it's Xion.]

And hello yourself, Xion. Let me guess, you've come to get a wee bit of ice-cream?

[Xion has no idea what you were up to. :] How could you stay mad at this face?]

Yup! Got it in one!

[Oh well, so much for flirting. Jamie reluctantly moves off to the side so Xion can get a better look at the selections.]

Aye, well, Janet'll take good care of ye, then.

[Janet smiles from her position behind the counter and waits for Xion to choose, freeing up Jamie for conversation.]
