❧ Lost in the Dark
[A soft rhythmical chiming can be heard from Filippo's pocket. All conversations halt as he holds up a hand to pull out his CAT device, switching an alarm off.]
Ahh, time's up. [He turns to everyone, clapping his hands once in front of him.] Well. This has been lovely, and I believe everyone who is willing to let bygones be bygones is ready. [All of like...one person] You know...I'm glad we had this chat. We should have had it sooner.
Oh well. Can't live in the past.
[All of a sudden, there is a flash of light and those who weren't by Lab #4 or had left will suddenly find themselves with the others--but no one is by Lab #4 anymore. Filippo stares for a moment before stamping his foot and shouting] No! No, this isn't how it was supposed to go! Ferran? Ferran! [He glowers, but his expression quickly turns to fear again as he hastily pulls out the yellow device to teleport away--but it falls from his hand, clattering to the ground. Before him stands Nathan, who has simply reappeared again--and he looks pissed.] Look...it's nothing personal, okay? [He starts to back away, stumbling into the lab.] I had to knock you out somehow and he's never told me if tranquilizers work on your kind! I would have used those inste--
Where are they, Resarci? I'm not in the mood for any of your doubletalk or lies. I've had to listen to enough of your shit and his for far too long!
[Color flares in Filippo's cheeks] I don't know either! If I did, I wouldn't have been yelling at him.
[Nathan lunges forward, grabbing Filippo's suit lapels.] What were you planning to do before, then? Don't think for a second that they believed you were going to send them home.
[Filippo tries to pry his suit away, but the grip on it is too tight] If they did, then I have some tubs of elbowgrease I can sell them too.
Where were they going?! [Nathan's hold shifts closer to Filippo's neck, cutting his air supply.]
[Filippo's face slowly starts to change colors, his voice hoarse as he tries to speak] F-Ferran's been preparing to move everyone to a different universe to continue his playtime with them. All I had to do was lure them to this lab and open the way to Lab #5.
[Nathan relaxes his grip a little.] We were trying to find that lab anyway! All you had to do was just wait for us to get there on our own. Why interfere?
Because he needed to discredit you even more. Why should they trust you implicitly when you still haven't told them everything? When you've failed to save them so many times? When--
Enough! I'm taking you into custody and you're coming with me right now. We need to find them.
And you think I'm going to just help you?
Yes. [He removes a pair of special handcuffs from his pocket, cuffing one over Filippo's wrist--and then his own.] Yes, I do.
[As for what happened to the otherworlders...]

Plot Details: Lost in the Dark
- Right now, the otherworlders are stuck in a dark, dark place. They can't see a thing, nothing whatsoever. No special abilities, technology, not a single thing, can light their way. If they walk around, they'll eventually walk into a metal wall, and if they turn right around, they'll meet another. They can only go in one of two directions, and which way they go is up to each individual. And using abilities to get to one place from another is ill-advised; after all, where is the end destination? How far is it to one end versus the other?
And...they won't be alone. In a sense.
As they walk, they'll hear various sounds. Like something in the distance is following them (or waiting up ahead). Light shuffling, scraping of nails against the walls, someone beating rhythmically on the walls or something else... Let your character's imagination run wild. What sort of things would scare them in the dark? What makes the little hairs on the back of their neck stand on end?
To add to that, every now and then, a cool breeze will blow at them from one direction--and only one direction--so the choice really becomes: do you head towards it, or away from it? What lies for them at either end?
Also as they walk/run/jog/speedwalk/skip/prance/hop, they'll occasionally hear voices. Sometimes it may be echoes from their friends, but other times...who knows. Just know I'll be tagging in with the mod account to give these little tidbits, so yet again, track your threads if you've partnered up with someone!
Now, that leads me to how we're doing this. I'm leaving most of the creepy things up to you to mess with your characters how you'd like. Mostly. I'll throw in a few curveballs myself, as well as give you nice mile markers to let you know if you're close/far/etc.
I'm also splitting this entry up into those who choose to go towards the wind, and those who go away from it. (As well as an OOC comment in case you have questions/want to snag people for teaming up.) Choose how you will, and if you change your mind, you can turn around and go the other way. Just hop into the other thread and go from there! Don't be afraid to pick. Pick how you think your character would think and not just to be contrary to others.
If...by any chance, there are characters who get way too overwhelmed by the darkness and weird things and it gets to the point where you can't tag with them, let me know. I don't think it'll happen, but just in case it or something similar happens, I want to have this out there for you guys.
This plot has no end date. It'll keep going until one end is reached.
If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask! Also, please indicate in your thread if you want to wait for a buddy or to go it alone and tag with me in the mod account (or Ten or Wash)!
Enjoy, everyone ♥

Aye, well, then we'll have to take it one step at a time and worry about the rest later. Just stay by the wall, and reach your hand back. I'm going to put mine out now, and see if I can't find yours that way.
[Letting go of the hilt of his dirk, he stretches his arm forward, carefully feeling in front of him to try and find Fuu's hand. His other hand stays on the wall to his right, using it as a guide - so long as none of those unexpected openings pops up.]
no subject
[She puts her back to the wall and stretches out her left hand as far as it will go.]
I'm sure you're close. Please be careful. [Not that she thinks he isn't. She just has to say it.
After a moment something brushes her fingers and she makes a startled noise.]
Jamie? Was that you?
no subject
Aye, I'm right here.
[He reaches again, his fingers brushing against hers deliberately to let her know he's there - and try and actually take her hand, if she'll let him. That way he won't lose her again.]
Here, I've got ye. Look, are ye alright?
no subject
Thank you. I'm all right, thank you. Much better now, actually.
And you?
no subject
[Better now that he's managed to find her, because it helps take the edge off his worry. That's not to say that he's still not worried, because it is still very dark and they've got to try and find their way out in a potentially dangerous place. But it does help.]
Although I'll not say as I care for sticking around here any longer than I have to. What say ye to going towards that breeze and seeing if it leads to a way out?
no subject
no subject
[And he follows suit, carefully feeling his way along the corridor. The breeze is still cool on his face, but he can't tell if it's getting stronger or not just yet. What he does notice more, though, is something else - a noise, a scraping sort of sound, very light. Almost as if someone is running claws along the sides of the corridor, but only barely touching them as it does. Jamie turns his head slightly, his voice dropping to a whisper that hopefully only she can hear.]
Hsst, Fuu. Do ye hear that?
no subject
Still uncertain, her heart pounds more quickly when Jamie whispers to her. She moves forward more slowly, straining her ears. After a moment she hears something.
She whispers back just as softly,]
Yes. Is that... clinking?
[Is it something mechanical? Maybe chains?]
no subject
N-no. I heard something else. A sort of scraping noise. Which way did ye hear the clinking coming from?
no subject
It's hard to tell but, behind us I think. Keeping pace with us.
[She doesn't really want to know what Jamie heard, so she doesn't ask. She just keeps sliding forward slowly. They've got to at least reach the source of the wind.]
no subject
[He chances a glance behind him, even though all he can see is darkness. But that scraping noise is still there, a bit louder now. And something else, too, but he can't quite decide if it's clanking or not.]
Er, maybe we should see about picking up the pace a bit.
no subject
[But she does the best she can with just upping the pace. It will give her a bit less time to react if suddenly her foot comes across something, but it's better than running ahead blind. Although if that noise gets to be on top of them, they might have to risk it.]
no subject
[Having that to hand if he needs to fight something would be very handy, he'll admit. At least he has his dirk if it comes to that. He picks up the pace as well, although it's not a run yet. Just a slightly brisk walk, which should put some distance between them and the scrape-clanking, because now he is hearing it, alternating with the claws he'd heard before so one moment he hears scraping and the next clanking.]
Ye know, I think ye may be right about that clanking noise. I can hear both now.
no subject
[They will also hear the following words echoed back to them:]
A visitor? Who in the world would dare--you. What gives you the right?!
Is that any way to treat an old friend? No...I suppose it matters not at this point, does it? Nonetheless, I have come to bid you farewell.
no subject
Careful! What is... [She trails off when she hears voices. She listens intently, then gasps slightly.]
Doctor Resarci? [It seems he's not gravely ill any longer, but it also sounds like he might be in trouble.]
Jamie... [Concern and a question is in her voice- what should they do? What can they do, when they don't know where the two men are.]
no subject
Hey, there's something down here! Some sort of a disk...
[He, too, trails off, glancing up from where he's crouching, as if that will help him figure out where the voices are coming from.]
Is that...? Fuu, we need to try and find them.
no subject
[Bending down she also feels at the disk-shape in the floor. She keeps her voice soft- if the other voices start up, she wants to hear it.]
Can we move this? We didn't hear them until we hit it. [It could be something. But if it's no good, they can always keep going into the breeze.]
no subject
Aye, let's give it a go.
[He carefully feels around until he comes across the dent that is across the disk, then slides his fingers down to the side. But no matter what he does, he can't seem to budge it.]
Och, it won't move.
no subject
She sighs. She has a moment of wondering if her wind magic would have any effect, but it'd be dangerous to use it without being able to see what she's doing.]
Mmm. Perhaps it's a really large switch?
[Making sure Jamie's hands are clear she she stands up on it, gives a little hop, then steps down. Although she cannot see it in the dark, she frowns down at the disk.]
I don't know... perhaps we'd better keep going?
no subject
Yes, I think you're right. Maybe we'll be able to figure out where they are if we do.
[He reaches back for her hand, making sure he has a ahold of it before they leave.]
Come on, let's go.
no subject
Okay.
[And she moves forward as he does, straining her ears for any more voices. Unfortunately all she hears for the moment is the return of the creepy clanking, now accompanied by equally creepy scraping. Her grip on Jamie's hand gets a touch tighter, glad he is here. It would have been hard to be alone through this.]
no subject
Och. Fuu, can ye hear any voices right now? I'm not picking up on any.
no subject
[She hadn't had the chance to become too familiar with Mister Ferran's voice, particularly distorted by echoes, but she was fairly sure that was who had been threatening Doctor Resarci.]
I'm worried that we'll get there too late.
[Too late to help, and too late to finally lay hands on the man behind all this.]
no subject
[Because it could very well be a CAT transmitting. It's not as though that hasn't happened before.]
Come on, let's keep going and see if we can find any way out of here.
[And he pushes forward, still taking the lead in case anything unexpected pops up in front of them.]
Let me know if ye feel anything different on the wall, Fuu. Or if that breeze changes at all.
no subject
I want you to get out, now! Help! Security!
I believe you will find...that they are a bit busy being dead, my dear Ernesto. We are all alone.
