[Once again, Kon's in the Talon, drinking a huge cup of coffee (which in itself's a bad sign - Kon doesn't really like the taste of it). He stares at the screen blankly for a moment before he goes ahead and asks:]

I know I wasn't here that long, but this Filippo Rescari's offer sounds ridiculous. He said he was the guy that tortured you guys last year - so was he the one that put everyone on reality TV? [There's a long pause as Kon realizes belatedly...] And did he put us on reality TV AGAIN?

I'm kinda wondering now since he was able to watch us and stuff. It's like we're all in one giant episode of the Truman Show - only we know this place's fake and we need to get out fast. I don't know about you guys, but the Talon and Professor's car and Willis's house and Ichijou's weird tub of blood... all those things being here aren't good.

I like the Talon, but I didn't want my world to be affected by this stupid experiment too. Are we still looking for that lab? I think I want in. And if we're not... well, come down and have some coffee. It'll all be on the house. [Nevermind that it was already free in the first place.]

Aye, that may not be a bad plan. Look, do ye have any tea at the moment? I could do with some before we start in on any looking about.

[He nods.] I think there's some in the back - I'm not good at brewing tea, but we've got the supplies here if you think you can help me make it.

Och, tea's not hard at all. If you've some milk and sugar I can make a proper of it no problem. I'll be down shortly, then.

[And shortly it is, because he wasn't that far away from the Talon when he'd gotten the message. He pokes his head in the door, looking about to see if he can spot Kon.]

Hello?

Hey! [Kon waves Jamie over the second he sees him. The Talon's pretty spacious, considering it's a coffee shop in the lobby of an old movie theater, so it takes Kon a little bit to gesture over to the counter and the stockpiles of food.

... He might have taken some of Sophie's extra teacakes when she wasn't looking. With her permission, but still!] So I got the milk - 1%, evaporated, fat-free, and whole - and then some white and brown sugar, since I don't know exactly how you like it.

[There's a slight pause as he glances over at the pantry.] I could find some honey too, if you want that instead.

[Oh, he's noticed the teacakes, and is eyeing them speculatively when the question of honey comes up.]

Honey?

[He thinks about it for a moment, then shakes his head. He's only ever had that when he's had a sore throat, and since he doesn't have that now, it doesn't seem necessary.]

Och, no, milk and sugar should be fine. Do ye have a kettle about?

[Huh. Kon always figured that people had either sugar or honey - the latter if they were health-conscious or just not into white sugar.

At the mention of the kettle, Kon nods and floats over to the cabinet. There, he grabs the nearest kettle (and its matching tea cozy) before bringing it back to Jamie. This works, right?

Aye. [And he sets about making the tea. While he's still going to bring up the idea of the lab, he does have a question or two that he's been curious about.]

Hey, if ye don't mind my asking, what's it like, being able to float like that? Does it feel strange not walking about?

Huh?

[The question almost makes Kon drop onto the ground. He stares down at his feet, then the ground, before he shrugs at Jamie.] I guess? It's kinda normal for me, since I've been able to do it for most of my life. You just... err, do you want me to show you? It might be easier if I take you up with me.

[Well, okay, it might have been a little unexpected, but Jamie's not seen many floating men, and it'd caught his attention. Kon's reply, though, was a little unexpected itself, and there's a surprised sort of blink at it.]

Ye would be willing to do that?

I don't see why not. It'd be easier than trying to make some kind of analogy about sandwiches or video games or something, right?

[Plus, Kon's not exactly sure what references Jamie WOULD get in the first place.] Unless you don't want me to hold you up, and then I guess I could figure something out.

[Not one of those references, apparently, because while he understands sandwiches perfectly fine, the moment 'video games' is uttered he gives Kon a puzzled look - then promptly decides to fake knowing about it.]

Oh, aye, those. Look, as long as ye holding me up doesn't involve anything too odd, I'll give it a go.

It shouldn't.

[Kon returns the favor by shooting Jamie an equally puzzled look.] Just hold out your hands, and I'll take you up a couple of feet or so - nothing too high, I promise.

[Trust him, he has had plenty of times where there has been one odd thing or another getting him places. Especially with the Doctor. But he holds out his hands anyway.]

Aye, all right. Look, there's not going to be a lot of wind with it, is there? Because, otherwise...

[He gestures down at the kilt briefly. Too much wind could be a small problem, and he's fairly sure Kon would appreciate a bit of a warning there.]

[Ah, right. Kon had completely forgotten about the whole kilt thing. He grins sheepishly, shaking his head as he takes Jamie's hand.]

Nah, it should be fine. [Then, with a slight nod, he slowly levitates them up in the air. As promised, it's not more than a couple of feet off the ground.]

... Just lemme know if you wanna go higher.

[He'd been expecting something, but the sensation of rising in the air was more than a bit strange to him. It's just as well that it's slowly, or he might have wound up trying to clutch onto Kon and hang on for dear life. As it is, he's still looking a bit nervous around the edges.]

Er, um...no, this is fine. You've been able to do this most of your life, ye said? How?

You're not afraid of heights, are you? I promise you don't have to look down or anything...

[He shrugs, not really sure how else to explain it.] My dad's from a planet called Krypton. It's a red sun planet, so when we live on yellow sun planets... we get superpowers like this. I guess it's just one of those things I don't think about too much?

N-no, of course I'm not! [But he's still going to follow that advice about not looking down all the same. Fortunately, the conversation gives him something to focus on.]

Ah, so ye were born like that. Aye, well, I suppose it'd not be something ye really think about, then. I'd not even would have thought that sort of thing was possible a few years ago, myself.

[Then again, he would have thought that about a lot of things at that time. That part of things have definitely changed.] There were stories, ye ken, but nothing like what ye can do. Or some of the other people here, come to think of it. This place seems to have a lot of people here with powers, have ye noticed?
