❧ Truth Hits Everybody
[The weather, as of late, has been gradually turning darker and colder ever since the expedition to Lab #3. Only in the past few hours has snow begun to fall in torrents of large, heavy flakes, the ground soon blanketed in thick, puffy snow--and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere for now. Oddly, the snow isn't restricted to the outside portions in the town. It's started to snow in every single building, every single lab--with one exception. The vast observation deck out on the spacestation remains relatively snow-free, though the lowering temperatures still persist.
During the storm, a figure, unseen by any eye, makes its way towards the observation deck--or so it must have done from the many tracks leading through town towards the Mayor's mansion (as well as through the many sections of the lab to) and all these ownerless footsteps lead to this snowless venue. There, a fire is lit in a pit that doesn't require any wood to continue to burn brightly. It's a picture of this brilliant, contained fire that is sent to all the CAT devices with a short message attached:]
Everyone, come to the observation deck. There is something you must be told.
[Nothing else comes after that, but for a brief time, the snow lets up for everyone to make their snowy treks. Once they are on the observation deck, they'll find the snow, cold temperatures, and strong winds will keep them from going back--but there will be no sign of the person who sent that message. The person did, however, leave a final message spelled out across the many screens on the observation deck opposite the glass windows where this nebula cloud and others can be seen. The screens are all black except for the white, hasty handwriting that reads:]
What have you done?

Plot Details: Truth Hits Everybody
- First of all, I wanted to give a big thank you to each and every one of you who sent in applications for this season. I recently closed them for good, and goodness...it's sad. But I've lamented on the subject before, and man, I'm excited to bring you all on this final leg of the journey!
- Characters will find themselves wanting to follow the snowy tracks that lead to the observation deck.
- Characters won't be able to leave said observation deck, though they can leave to go to the lavatories and nearby kitchen.
- When one character asks the question, "What have you done?", the other becomes the accused in this conversation and will say two truths and one lie.
- Characters will have to deal with the contents of these statements.
- Once each statement is dealt with, characters will start to feel a bit warmer, but if they ignore it, and they'll feel colder.
- Those who run away from what they said will start to turn to ice/start to be covered in ice. The only way to stop this is to face what they've said.
- The more characters talk to each other, the warmer the entire room will feel.
- Note: if you think the subject of the truth/lie is triggery in any way? Give a heads-up. I don't...think we have any characters where that may be a concern, but just putting that out there just in case.
Speaking of legs, that's an awful lot of footprints, right? Once characters see them (and yes, some footprints lead from their very own front doors), they'll feel compelled to follow them, curious to see where they go--and this goes for all characters no matter where they are. (Unless they're already in the observation deck, then that fire pit's appearance will be very sudden indeed!) Once there, they can't go back. At all. The snow only relents if characters need to use the facilities (conveniently located in the same area) or need to go to the kitchen that's down one of the many corridors leading off from the observation deck. Other than that? Everyone is stuck in the same place. (Mind, it is a big room, so there are places to be somewhat alone, but generally? There is no escaping one another.)
And you know what? It's time for some truths to come out.
The message spread across the screens won't go away, but it will probably make characters to wonder...what have the others done? Something must have been done to earn such an accusation, right? Otherwise, why would they all be stuck there? That question must be answered in order to get out, right??
Well... Whether there is anything that others have done in their lives, one thing is for sure: a huge truth came out recently about Lab #3 and that must have people wondering what else might is a lie and what is a truth.
So in that spirit, when characters start a conversation with one another, one will be the accused and the other, the accuser. When asked the question, "What have you done?", the accused will blurt out three statements--two are truths and one is a lie--and it's up to the accuser to sort it all out. Naturally, the accused will be confused and mortified (amongst other emotions surely) that those things came out so easily, so really, both have to deal with the fallout of those statements. Now these three things can be....well, anything you'd like. If your character admits to things like...having an unabashed love for oranges, can never keep Ice T and Ice Cube straight, and had a horrible experience on an apple orchard which is why they never eat candied apples, then that will be quite interesting to talk about, huh? If your character admits to slaughtering a village, pillaging King Solomon's mines when he wasn't looking, and ruling Rome with an iron fist, then well...things might be a bit more complicated. Everyone has something they did in the past. Hidden things they have spoken to no one, things that one may be ashamed of, or did in a past life--something they're not proud of. Or perhaps...something they would readily do again if in the same position as before.
Granted, the accuser probably won't have any idea what connects your character's three sentences no matter how heavy the subject material, but that's part of the fun.
Another fun thing? As they deal with the statements and talk about them, both will start to feel a bit warmer. Likewise, if they run away from the subject? Yeah, they'll feel even colder. Run away from the truth and the lie for long enough and the accused will start turning into ice until they are ready to talk about it. It is fully possible to turn into an all-ice version of themselves. (Or if that's too weird, their limbs will start to be covered with ice, whichever you're more comfortable with.)
These three things can vary in degrees of seriousness depending on what you want to do with your characters. If you really want your character to admit to another that they've slaughtered millions, they can! Depends on how much you want to open up your character to others.
So basically:
In other words, this is a literal ice breaker in a way. Oh yes. I went there.
And maybe...just maybe...someone else will have a thing or two to confess...

One final note before I let you venture through the snow! We will be having a game-wide HMD soon! This Sunday, in fact! Like our last one, this one will go in the OOC comm. It's also optional, so don't feel like you must post for feedback.
I believe that is it! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to leave them here or poke me elsewhere, but otherwise? Have fun and stay warm~
Enjoy ♥
EDIT: Important edit! Normally, this plot would follow the normal in-game progression of time so that a couple weeks will have passed since the last one. In the past, we have had plots that did take only a couple days in-game. I'd dithered about adjusting the time passage before I put this plot up, and after some thought, now I am going to change it.
Instead of two weeks, only four days will have passed in-game since the Lab #3 discovery (which started right off the bat from the previous plot post.) I really, really hope this doesn't mess people up too much. I'm hoping this will make it easier for people to post when they don't have all that time to fill and such.
Oh, another thing: if people go to the bridge at all to see what's up with the climate controls and such, they'll see that nothing is wrong. The temperature and climate situation ought to be what it normally is--and all the terminals and such say that it is. But that snow says otherwise...
