❧ Just Breathe

[For days, the zombie invasion of the Luministi town and spacestation has gone on, but through various means, there have been less and less zombies appearing by the day. And now, only a few remain, stubbornly shambling after their prey--

--or rather they were. With a bright, blinding flash of light, their bodies instantly change. No longer are they dead and decaying, but are that of full-fledged living beings with absolutely no desire for brains or flesh of the living. In fact, while they take a moment to blink and look around to see where they are, these townspeople merely shrug and continue on with their business like they did months ago. For them, it's back to their normal routine, and if asked, they won't even remember being a zombie. No one does. Even those who were killed during the fighting are back, right as rain.

But something else has changed.

Something big, yet the sound was so soft and heard by none. A door has been opened...

And from the surprise left in the town square, it seems other metaphorical doors have been opened as well, a fact that the sender of a text message to all of the CATs, is very well aware of:]

Enjoy this respite from chaos while you can.

[The moment that text is sent, anyone still injured will be blinded once again--but will find all wounds have been healed.]

Plot Details: Just Breathe
Welcome to Luministi's Fourth Wall event! If you have never participated in 4th wall with us before, the portion above the cut there is an IC continuation of the story that has been in the making for the past two seasons (a summary of which can be read here if you are curious, but it's not required reading!) Unlike past events, the town is not only fully populated with people who will just talk about mundane things about Luministi, but the pathway to the spacestation via the Mayor's House has been opened. How long that will remain open is anyone's guess, but for now, take advantage of it!

Also, visitors have a choice of physically appearing in the town square or communicating from their own world via the CAT.

Now, for those of you new to the game, the CATs, or Communications Audiovisual Transmitters, are personalized communication devices about the size of your palm, and for this day only, visiting characters will have this device. They'll have found it randomly on their person with no idea how it even got there. From a video broadcast standpoint, you'll be able to see the the immediate surroundings of the person you're talking to. More information about the CATs can be found on the FAQ page, which also has some handy tips about how the game is run and other questions about the game that aren't answered elsewhere in the mod journal. But if you don't see your question answered anywhere, please don't be afraid to ask!

In-game time, this event lasts a day, but you can tag for however long you want!

If visiting players do app into the game they will be able to remember visiting the town (or viewing it in a video feed), as well as everyone they met, the moment they show up in the town of Luministi for real. Yeah for ready-made CR, right?

And for current players, consider this a plot break! I'll have the game's next proper plot update for you guys tomorrow, so enjoy the breather while you can!

This event is the last one the game will hold, unfortunately, as Luminsti is in its final season. All of the storylines and mysteries introduced back in June 2010 when the game first opened will be brought to a close, and how it all does will be up to everyone involved. There are choices to be made and tasks that need to be accomplished--but only if you do it. Not doing something also will result in something, but whether it's for better or worse, well... You'll just have to come along for the ride and see, won't you?

Apps for [community profile] luministi formally close July 28th, 11:59pm EST. I look forward to seeing everyone here! ♥

Now, let the fourth-walling commence! Have lots of fun~

[He softens and gently returns the hug.]

It would appear so. I'll confess I wasn't expecting to see you again so soon, my boy.

Oh, neither was I! [This is the most pleasant surprise he could ever ask for, short of going back to London where he belongs.] But I'm glad you're here! Even if it's been rather scary lately.

[Nothing is quite as scary in Professor Layton's company.]
reminded: (I see...)

[personal profile] reminded 2012-07-02 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
["Scared" isn't even in Layton's dictionary!! Unless scientific explosions are involved]

It sounds like you've been here for some time. Is it dangerous?
luke_triton: (professaaaaah)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-07-02 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
It didn't seem like it at first.

[Then he summarizes absolutely everything, starting with how you can't ride a bike out of town and ending with zombies and hiding in the pantry.]
reminded: (I think I'm beginning to see...)

[personal profile] reminded 2012-07-02 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
[He listens patiently, nodding and humming and murmuring "oh dear" where appropriate.]

That's quite the tale, Luke. You've had more than one harrowing experience during your stay here. [Clark would be appalled... if he could even believe it.]
luke_triton: (confident)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-07-02 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Neither Dad nor Mum would be very pleased about this. At all.

But Luke's smiling. What he needed most was...well, Layton to be around to listen to him freak out and then fix it. The way he always did.]

I really hope it's all over.
reminded: (So you're saying...)

[personal profile] reminded 2012-07-02 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hmm...]

You've done well so far, but I'm afraid it's too soon to be assured of anything. We must root out the source of the problem before we can expect it to go away.

What do you say we take a tour? I'd like to get a feel for the town before deciding on any sort of action.
luke_triton: (puzzle solving!)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-07-03 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds great! [He is totally tugging your sleeve Layton.] Did you know the Laytonmobile is here? The one from the "future."
reminded: (This may take a moment longer.)

[personal profile] reminded 2012-07-03 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Totally being led along. He adjusts his hat and walks alongside Luke once he's up to speed.]

From the "future," you say? How odd. I didn't hear any reports of it being missing or stolen back in London.
luke_triton: (professaaaaah)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-07-03 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
You know the one I'm talking about. [It later became quite the flying machine.]

Where would you like to start the tour?

reminded: (looks into horizon)

[personal profile] reminded 2012-07-03 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
I do, indeed. [But he thought Inspector Chelmey would have notified him if said flying machine had mysteriously disappeared.]

Now that you've mentioned it, I'm interested in seeing the condition of the old girl. Why don't we start there?
luke_triton: (handchin)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-07-03 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
All right, it's this way! [Grab bag strap and begin the march!

It's on the way to his house, anyway, and he does want Layton to see at least the neighborhood. They'll stop at the car first.]
reminded: (Hm?)

[personal profile] reminded 2012-07-03 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, that sure does look like the future Laytonmobile.]

It's as I remember it. [He brings a hand to his chin.] I have to wonder what purpose it serves here. It doesn't seem like anyone is trying to convince us that we're traveled into the future again.

What's your opinion on the matter, Luke?
luke_triton: (hold on...)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-07-03 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
When it first got here, I could hear your voice talking to me if I was standing nearby. ...Actually, I still do sometimes.

[Luke leans against the back window and presses his face to the glass. Noseprint.]

There isn't a key.
reminded: (It's quite simple.)

[personal profile] reminded 2012-07-03 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Remember to wash your face later, Luke.]

Luckily, I know where we can find one. But first, there's a puzzle on my mind that begs to be shared. Would you like to hear it?
luke_triton: (handchin)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-07-04 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
[YES.]

Of course I do Professor! I always want to hear your puzzles!
reminded: (That concludes the lecture.)

[personal profile] reminded 2012-07-04 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Fantastic.

Let's say you're driving down a road on a windy, stormy night, and things only look like they're about to get worse. You come upon an isolated bus stop and see three people waiting there:

an elderly woman,
an old friend who once saved your life,
and a young lady you're absolutely smitten with.

Knowing your automobile can only fit one passenger, who do you choose?

luke_triton: (puzzle solving!)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-07-04 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm...let's see...

I think what I would probably do...is give my keys to my friend, and tell him to take the elderly woman home. I'd stay to walk the lady home instead once it stopped raining. That's what a gentleman does!

...But you know, Professor, I don't have a driver's license.
reminded: (Let's proceed shall we?)

[personal profile] reminded 2012-07-04 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Then we'd better keep it a secret from Inspector Chelmey. We can't have you getting into trouble, after all.

[He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his keyring.] Now, let's see if my keys will still work. Will you do the honors?
luke_triton: (downturned)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-07-05 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry, he's not here either.

I don't think I should. I'm...probably still not tall enough. [Sheepish tugging of hat.]
reminded: (looks into horizon)

[personal profile] reminded 2012-07-06 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
All in good time, my boy. Well then, let's see if this will do the trick.

[He opens the door to the driver's side and inserts the key in the ignition. He turns the key with a twist of the wrist, and...

... nothing.]
luke_triton: (bored)

[personal profile] luke_triton 2012-07-09 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Aww. He really wanted the car to start. But he thinks he sees the problem.]

Well, I've solved this puzzle. Look, Professor, it's out of fuel. [He points to the gauge resting squarely at "empty".]
