❧ Just Breathe

[For days, the zombie invasion of the Luministi town and spacestation has gone on, but through various means, there have been less and less zombies appearing by the day. And now, only a few remain, stubbornly shambling after their prey--

--or rather they were. With a bright, blinding flash of light, their bodies instantly change. No longer are they dead and decaying, but are that of full-fledged living beings with absolutely no desire for brains or flesh of the living. In fact, while they take a moment to blink and look around to see where they are, these townspeople merely shrug and continue on with their business like they did months ago. For them, it's back to their normal routine, and if asked, they won't even remember being a zombie. No one does. Even those who were killed during the fighting are back, right as rain.

But something else has changed.

Something big, yet the sound was so soft and heard by none. A door has been opened...

And from the surprise left in the town square, it seems other metaphorical doors have been opened as well, a fact that the sender of a text message to all of the CATs, is very well aware of:]

Enjoy this respite from chaos while you can.

[The moment that text is sent, anyone still injured will be blinded once again--but will find all wounds have been healed.]

Plot Details: Just Breathe
Welcome to Luministi's Fourth Wall event! If you have never participated in 4th wall with us before, the portion above the cut there is an IC continuation of the story that has been in the making for the past two seasons (a summary of which can be read here if you are curious, but it's not required reading!) Unlike past events, the town is not only fully populated with people who will just talk about mundane things about Luministi, but the pathway to the spacestation via the Mayor's House has been opened. How long that will remain open is anyone's guess, but for now, take advantage of it!

Also, visitors have a choice of physically appearing in the town square or communicating from their own world via the CAT.

Now, for those of you new to the game, the CATs, or Communications Audiovisual Transmitters, are personalized communication devices about the size of your palm, and for this day only, visiting characters will have this device. They'll have found it randomly on their person with no idea how it even got there. From a video broadcast standpoint, you'll be able to see the the immediate surroundings of the person you're talking to. More information about the CATs can be found on the FAQ page, which also has some handy tips about how the game is run and other questions about the game that aren't answered elsewhere in the mod journal. But if you don't see your question answered anywhere, please don't be afraid to ask!

In-game time, this event lasts a day, but you can tag for however long you want!

If visiting players do app into the game they will be able to remember visiting the town (or viewing it in a video feed), as well as everyone they met, the moment they show up in the town of Luministi for real. Yeah for ready-made CR, right?

And for current players, consider this a plot break! I'll have the game's next proper plot update for you guys tomorrow, so enjoy the breather while you can!

This event is the last one the game will hold, unfortunately, as Luminsti is in its final season. All of the storylines and mysteries introduced back in June 2010 when the game first opened will be brought to a close, and how it all does will be up to everyone involved. There are choices to be made and tasks that need to be accomplished--but only if you do it. Not doing something also will result in something, but whether it's for better or worse, well... You'll just have to come along for the ride and see, won't you?

Apps for [community profile] luministi formally close July 28th, 11:59pm EST. I look forward to seeing everyone here! ♥

Now, let the fourth-walling commence! Have lots of fun~

[Hmmm]
You wouldn't happen to have seen a friend of mine around, have you?

Taller. Dark gray armor, yellow stripes. Slightly crazy.
[The last one is half-joking because at this point she trusts Wash enough to think he's at least mostly all there.]

[personal profile] manicurious 2012-07-01 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm? That sounds like...

[That was Washington she was referring to, right? Tall - check. Dark grey armor - check. Yellow stripes - check. But after the events of the last week or so, that last item gets a surprisingly firm indignant response.]

Agent Washington is not crazy in the slightest.

[Woah, where'd that come from?! One minute this guy is stuttering and shaking and the next he's standing up for Wash? That's definitely interesting but she'll save asking about it for later.]
Wash is here, then?
manicurious: (Sleepyjou)

[personal profile] manicurious 2012-07-02 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Like a protective little puppy, yes, though the shivering never actually stopped. He's still definitely afraid but he won't take someone talking shit about Wash without some protest.]

Ah, well, yes. I, um, I honestly wouldn't have approached you at all if I hadn't guessed that you knew each other.

[personal profile] sarcasticpelican 2012-07-02 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Well in her opinion he's a freelancer, not a china cup. She's seen him and the rest of the team pull stunts that most sane humans wouldn't even consider. He can probably handle a couple of harsh words- even after the craziness that was Epsilon.]

How did you figure that?
[Where she's from people in armor like hers are all over the place. You're going to have to explain this one.]
manicurious: (Faceless)

[personal profile] manicurious 2012-07-02 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hauh?

Well I've never seen anyone else with armor like that...
sarcasticpelican: (Everyone out!)

[personal profile] sarcasticpelican 2012-07-02 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
What? But Wash and I have different armor. That shouldn't have told you anything.
[She wears an ODST variant. He wears mark VI.]
manicurious: (snerk)

[personal profile] manicurious 2012-07-02 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
It's similar enough.

[Both terribly unfashionable and intimidating. This person probably never ever takes hers off either, he'd be willing to bet.]
sarcasticpelican: (surprise helmet)

[personal profile] sarcasticpelican 2012-07-02 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
It is?
[You can't see but her eyebrows are raised at you, Ichijou. She's suspecting foul play here.]
manicurious: (PUT IT BACK ON)

[personal profile] manicurious 2012-07-02 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
I would think that the two suits were at least designed by the same person or company.

[He starts to describe some of the motifs he's picturing, drawing the features on himself with a finger. And he starts talking and gesturing faster and faster as he goes because this exchange is making him incredibly nervous.]

They both have these very striking brightly-colored... window... visor... things, which reflect light in a similar manner. And there's this sort of boxy-looking radiating embellishment right here on the chest, your helmets both have a stripe in the exact same location, like this, the points of attachment for the shoulder pieces look quite alike in design...

And the only other armor I can compare them to - that is, the only one I've ever really seen, was made of solid gold and had giant horns on it.
sarcasticpelican: (helmet)

[personal profile] sarcasticpelican 2012-07-02 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
You've....never seen armor like this before.
[Said in deadpan because that really doesn't make sense. It's standard issue besides a few modifications.]
manicurious: (PUT IT BACK ON)

[personal profile] manicurious 2012-07-02 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
No, never.

You don't believe me, do you?
sarcasticpelican: (looking back)

[personal profile] sarcasticpelican 2012-07-02 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. Sorry.
[Again with the deadpan.]
manicurious: (teatime)

[personal profile] manicurious 2012-07-02 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Siiiiiiiiigh. You are so not sorry.]

Do I look like someone who would ever be caught in a place where people have to wear armor? Why would I even lie about that?
sarcasticpelican: (Default)

[personal profile] sarcasticpelican 2012-07-02 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well it's not like most people wearing armor had a choice- And for all I know you're the one who caused this.
[Even if the war's over now she can't leave. She has the Director's mess to help mop up and the recovery force to direct. And she's feeling QUITE bitter about that, too. Thanks for bringing it up.

Also she doubts this is your fault, but all things considered looks can definitely be deceiving.]
manicurious: (snerk)

[personal profile] manicurious 2012-07-02 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Scoff!]

If I had been the cause of this, I would've sent you right back where you came from the moment your hand started hovering over that gun you're carrying. I've had more than my fill of grievous bodily harm lately as it is.
sarcasticpelican: side looking up (pic#1697331)

[personal profile] sarcasticpelican 2012-07-02 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah well... I think I would've preferred that.

You've been injured recently?
manicurious: (KING SHIT OF FUCK MOUNTAIN)

[personal profile] manicurious 2012-07-02 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
First nearly starved to death, then viciously cut open - [He draws a line across part of his midriff and his tone starts getting a bit hostile again.] here.

And I wouldn't be in anything close to as stable a condition as I'm in now if it wasn't for your "craaaaaazy" friend.
sarcasticpelican: (pic#1949169)

[personal profile] sarcasticpelican 2012-07-02 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I see.

[Oh he's not letting that go? This is getting irritating.]
Oh son of a -Look, I only said slightly crazy. Anyone who worked with us could fit that description.
[479 used to do some pretty crazy stunts as a pilot, but the freelancers? They literally were driven insane by the project, and Wash had it pretty bad for a while. She about to talk about the classified stuff but... This she could say. ]
manicurious: (business time)

[personal profile] manicurious 2012-07-02 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Of course even if Wash was blatantly insane, Ichijou probably wouldn't notice - his perception of such things is a bit skewed on account of being kind of batshit himself.

And as someone who looks like you can hit him with a pillow and kill him (and in this case, looks are not at all deceiving), he can kind of grasp the idea of someone with an exceptionally dangerous job being a little nutty. You're off the hook this time.]

Ah, my apologies! I thought that you were just being insulting. I know that Agent Washington doesn't need someone like me defending him, but after what happened, well, I don't really know how else to express how much I appreciate that...
sarcasticpelican: (Default)

[personal profile] sarcasticpelican 2012-07-02 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Finally. But... He seems sincere about owing Washington. He could be sincere about not seeing armor before as well. ]
You really owe him one, huh....Well I guess there are worse people to be indebted to.

Where are you from?
manicurious: (I ship that)

[personal profile] manicurious 2012-07-02 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
More than I could probably ever adequately express. I don't even know if he realizes the extent of it - he's a bit hard for me to read, you know?

[Ichijou, on the other hand, is quite easy to read. He's relieved by the transition to a less emotional subject.]

I may not look like it, but I'm originally from Japan. That's, um, it's on the planet Earth...
sarcasticpelican: front normal helmet (pic#1695916)

[personal profile] sarcasticpelican 2012-07-02 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Earth.
[You're getting a pause as she kind of looks you over again. ]
And you're sure you've never seen armor like mine before?
manicurious: (Sleepyjou)

[personal profile] manicurious 2012-07-03 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Positive. As I've indicated, I try to make it a habit to stay far, far away from places that are likely to require the use of body armor.

And honestly, both yours and Agent Washington's make me nervous. I can see the practical purpose of hiding your faces, but I spent something like a year believing that Washington was some kind of very well-programmed robot because of it.

It took being trapped in an enclosed space alone with him for me to find out otherwise.
sarcasticpelican: (pb1)

Im going to use a PB now- is this ok?

[personal profile] sarcasticpelican 2012-07-11 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
[That doesn't seem right- Especially not after the war. But right now she needs to know things and gaining his trust is more important than finding out how crazy he is. She'll just reach up and pop the clasps now- pulling the helmet off and raising an eyebrow.]
Is that better?

PSSH NO (yeah it's fine!)
