[The best way to figure out the ups and downs of a puzzling situation is to explore! Right? Luke thinks so, and he's wandering up and down the streets of Luministi Greens East to get an idea of the lay of the land, so to speak, in his new neighborhood. It's weird to think about so he's trying not to; walking felt more familiar, prompting him to leave his bicycle at home.

"Home", rather.

After a while of sorting things out (the layout is nothing complicated, but he wants to sit down with a map anyway and start getting things all noted down in his notebook) he starts fiddling with the CAT again. The video function is pretty useful!]

The food they left out for us was sort of disappointing, wasn't it? I've got something less unimpressive, if anyone wants to hear a puzzle.

Haha… it was pretty straightforward. [He grins, rubbing the back of his head.] Would you like to give me another one, then?

Oh… sure! Let's see… [tapping his chin for a few moments]

Okay. A man makes a complaint about the cup of tea he's been served- a fly got in it, because sometimes that just can't be helped. The waiter says oh, that's fine, sir, he'll bring out a fresh cup of tea. So he brings out another cup, but the man objects, saying that this is exactly the same cup as he had before!

How does he know this?

[Luke, in turn, also taps his chin. Has he heard one like this before? Hmm...]

This probably sounds silly...but is the fly still in the tea?

[He spreads out his hands.] But that's the first thing the man would notice! And why would the waiter take the cup away if he wasn't going to change something?

[luke_triton]

Umm...the tea is too cold by the time the waiter brings it back?

[desertdaggers]

Huh… you know, that's not the answer I heard, but I think it's a distinct possibility! I'll accept it. [He grins and winks.] After all, any way you look at it, he wasn't the best waiter, right?

[luke_triton]

Definitely not.

What was the answer you heard?

[He puts his hand out, miming stirring a cup.] The man put sugar in his tea before sending it back, so when the tea came back still sweet… that's how he knew.

[luke_triton]

Oh. Yeah, that does make sense.

Thanks! I liked that one. [He does love his tea, too.]

I'm glad! Puzzles are one of those things that keep you occupied when you're waiting for something, so I know a few.

I'm Luke Triton! [It's hard not to add "Layton's Apprentice!" but he manages.]

Oh, I'm...well, I'm from London. But we moved away a few months ago.

Oh? Where to?

[luke_triton]

Another country. My dad's business made us.

[He really doesn't want to talk about it.]

Haaaah… sounds like a nuisance.

[He picks up on that, and claps his hands together.] Maybe we shouldn't dwell on that, then. What other puzzles do you know?

[luke_triton]

I know too many puzzles to solve in just one day.

[desertdaggers]

[He whistles.] An avid puzzle collector! Do you have a favourite?

[luke_triton]

I think it would be really hard to come up with a favorite. I like puzzles about food.
