The botanical gardens and the greenhouse very well could have been hidden with some sort of cloaking technology and what I saw was the result of a glitch in the device used to cloak it.

But I think the bigger picture here is someone or some group of people has us at their mercy, and they think that they can simply get away with spoiling us with all this extravagant wealth. We've just got to figure out why we're so interesting to them in the first place.
