❧ Holding Out For A Hero
[A figure somewhere, always watching over all, reads a bit of communication between some of them and can't help smiling. Why the figure smiles is anyone's guess, but smile the figure does. He picks up a CAT device after a few minutes and begins to type.
During that time, the snow in the entire laboratory area and town stops and begins to evaporate. The area becomes extremely foggy very fast and makes it difficult to see everyone in the observation deck, but by the time it's gone, everyone might feel...a bit different. Sure, they might feel nice and warm since the weather conditions have returned to normal (or rather, were allowed to be what they always were before something overrode them), but...there is something more. Some may feel stronger, some weaker, but all will feel strange.
Changes have that effect.
Soon, the figure is done writing and sends the following message to everyone's CATs, and simultaneously, the multiple screens on the observation deck go blank:]
Hopefully you have enjoyed your cold, hard truths and white, hot lies. Doesn't everyone feel better now? I know I do. Yet, I do feel somewhat guilty. You are all my guests and I have not been the kindest host, so I am going to do something nice--
--for some of you. What that is you will quickly find out--or not, depending upon how astute you are--but know this: a balance has been struck, but more to the point, interesting times are upon you all now! I hope you do not squander this opportunity.
[After a moment, a second, but briefer, message is sent:]
Oh. "Nathan" sends his regards.

- Well, you guys might have guessed what's gonna go on with this one from the plot name, but let's just say, this is yet another one of those plots I've been dying to do for months, and you know what? NOW IS THE TIME FOR IT!!!
The effects for this are pretty immediate, as the weather conditions just changed in the matter of a few minutes, and so the changes have also taken place in that time.
But what are these changes?
Well, there has been a shift of powers--an almost literal one, in fact. Those who have special abilities of any kind will be rendered powerless and basically like your average normal human being--for now. Characters who are not biologically human can look the same and such; that hasn't changed. They can also keep anything that is absolutely vital to keeping them alive, but otherwise? No special senses, enhanced strength, no magic, etc.
And conversely, those who have been regular people this entire time? Guess what, you have powers now of your own choosing--for now! Seriously. Ever have a dream of flying? Or of being someone special? Well, now you can!--At the cost of your friends' powers. It's a transfer of powered energy--but how it manifests in others depends on the person. Think about what kind of superpower or special ability your character would have if they lived in a world where such things were the norm. Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility.
Everyone who has been switched will have to contend with their new powers/lack of powers, and if the power corrupts you...well, you just might be the villain everyone will have to band together and stop.
Oh yeah, didn't mention that, did I? Just because people have these powers (or lack of powers) doesn't mean that everyone is going to turn out to be the hero-type. Where there is light, there will be darkness, so I do wonder who will go mad with power and get their villain hats on.
Characters will note a random rise of crime in the town ranging from petty thefts to, well. Worse things. (There are potentially villains about, so this should be expected!) Feel free to apprehend criminal NPCs and toss 'em in jail and such! Don't be surprised when you start receiving baskets of food in thanks for your jobs well done.
Go ahead and use this post to plot with each other, but also name what kind of power you're thinking of for your character if your character is going to have one. (And I feel so sorry for the ones who will be changed to normal non-powered people. It's going to be such a shock ;_; ) I ask because, well, reasons.
If you have any questions at all, please don't be afraid to hit me up with them!
--Oh yeah, activity check is in one day! But...there's going to be a twist to it. You'll see~ (Trust me, it's a good one. Have I steered any of you wrong yet?)
EDIT: And here is the link for the last activity check!

I think I want to go with the pachinko lion/dragon (#4) since it's monstrous without being too normal or too abstract.
Pachinko lion stats, yo:
Activated by: Fear/anxiety
The monster: A dragon/lion type of creature that's several times the size of Ichijou in his normal state. Its body is covered in red, white, and purple fur (anyone who's paid attention will probably notice that those + gold are Ichijou's favorite colors.), streaked and patterned with designs that resemble a series of narrow, glaring eyes.
Dominating its face are two pairs of big yellow eyes with strange star-shaped irises. It has a mouth full of big pointed teeth and which is disturbingly dripping with drool most of the time. As the drops tumble toward the ground, they solidify into little silvery beads which may be recognized by some as pachinko balls.
Along the same lines, killing the monster will result in it degrading into a huge pile of pachinko balls (Too bad you probably won't find anywhere to cash them in!). Of course that would also kill Ichijou, but he wouldn't know unless someone told him later. ;)
The lion doesn't possess any kind of magical abilities (unless pachinko drool counts), it's just big and vicious. It also doesn't have any organized villainous goals - it just seems to want to greedily devour everyone - heroes, villains, and neutral parties all look equally tasty.
The transformation can be reversed without drastic measures, of course, by feeding or otherwise giving the lion things that make Ichijou happy, which can include objects (such as nail polish, cake, coffee, tea, wine, gold, perfume...), telling him things that he likes to hear (compliments, affection, assorted flattery...), or if you're especially brave, sneaking right up in his business and doing something that he'd like (such as trimming his claws, brushing his fur, putting a cute ribbon on his tail...).
Though you may just find that fighting the monster might have a more favorable outcome, since if one makes the form revert they'll be stuck with a confused, sleepy, inadequately dressed Ichijou who will refuse to take responsibility for anything that just happened while probably accusing you of sexual harassment while whining endlessly about having a belly ache. Which could really just add insult to injury if he happened to swallow someone you like.

(So I say "yes". Many times.)

So is it alright if he munches a few townspeople then?
And on that note, anyone want their character to fight/capture/kill/get attacked by/get eaten by/otherwise deal with Ichimonster?

Because if there's one superpower that Xion innately has and can never be taken away, it's the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!!1

Considering how much he adores Xion she'd probably have the easiest time dealing with him. Unless she treated him like an actual monster then that would go out the window :B

though she'd be surprised to see an actual monster in Luministi to begin with... but yeah she's. kind of been a monster herself before, so. yeah.

A time... monster... bomb.
