❧ Old Familiar Things

[Listen close; on the tail ends of a faint breeze running through the town, one can hear voices. They sound varied, some are just having regular conversations, but others might be full-out arguing and bickering. There might even be the sounds of laughter as showers of coins come out of a chiming machine. All these sounds are new. They are soft at first, but as one walks around town and encounters the strange sights that stand out amongst the usual hodge-podge of buildings, the voices and sounds become louder and clearer. It's almost as if those people are there--but sadly, they are not. Some will find the voices familiar, but others won't.

But there is one thing for certain: they do not belong there.

And neither do the new structures and buildings that have cropped up around town...

There are still no signs of the townspeople, and the Mayor has even gone silent. None of his trademark music accompaniment will cover up those voices this time. However, there is a new noise that only those with the keenest ears may be able to pick up on--and it is not good. Not from the way whatever is making it sounds...overworked and stressed, the mechanical systems ready to break at any given moment.]

Plot Details: Old Familiar Things
Hopefully, you've been managing your food supplies, everyone, or else...well. Things won't be pleasant. (Probably a good thing we have no cannibals in our midst (or do we? Uh oh.)) Perhaps the new distractions around town will hold off thoughts of starvation for a while longer.

Remember those odd buildings and structures seeing around various places in and around town? Well, they are what are giving off the voices, and those voices belong to those in that particular world around the time each person left it. So, walk near the giant windmill, and one will hear the bickerings and complaining of the Blood Gulch guys as they argue over which side sucks more, red or blue. Go to the library, and you just might find that it is definitely not quiet on the second floor, not when everyone is pointing out the sights around an invisible Tokyo.

And there are new structures now as well. That is where you all come in. What sort of object, room, or place from your character's world would you like to see in the town? Does it have a particular meaning to them, either negative or positive? The structure will ping them in some way, but it doesn't have to be anything they've encountered recently. It can be something from their childhood, for example. Everyone has a choice of one thing, and where it's located is also up to you. Keep in mind that if you don't want it in town, it can turn up in the spacestation. There are plenty of offices in the area, for example, where something could take over, or it could sit out in the opening. There is a list of what we have already and where in the Town Features page on the mod journal. Like the other objects and locations already in existence, these too will come with a bit of audio as well.

And that...is not all. (Didn't think I'd let you off so easily, did you~?) In fact, there are two more things. When your character is near the object/location that "belongs" to them, they'll feel a surge of euphoria--even if that location happens to drive them insane or upset them in some way. Visit someone else's and yeah, you won't feel that way.

Oh, and that other? Is that very faint overworked, mechanical sound that can be heard everywhere--and that means both in the town and out on the spacestation. It's a new sound, but for now, think of it like the background noise someone might hear when hearing the fridge run; you won't really notice it after five minutes. However, it does signal something...kinda bad. Because yeah, the food situation has improved either and now? There isn't any hot water. Well. Unless you boil it. The lights and such still seem to be functional, so there is that! But no hot water for anyone.

Okay, I lied, there is one more point of interest in the form of someone who has returned to Luministi, albeit very reluctantly. Our old friend, Proctor, is now back around the spacestation, but because of his mode of transportation and the ordeal he's been through recently (trust me, he'll definitely be talking about it), he won't be up for talking for a bit. (He can't exactly remember it in detail anyway at the moment, and neither can his traveling companions, Jamie and Xion.) But when he is back in action, I'll post again so people can have a chance to speak with him.

    ----------------------------------

And on the business end of things, we do have an ad in the latest ATP post if anyone wants to hunt around! Oh, and you might notice a little blurb in there about a certain event at the end of the month~ We are holding a 4th wall event on June 30th! Like our previous ones, any CR made there will be game canon, so any newcomers coming in from the 4th wall will have established game CR to get back into once they officially arrive in town. I'll talk more about it once we get to the end of the month, and I'll continue to remind you all as we go. I'm definitely looking forward to it!

I believe that is it. So! Comment here with the object/location from your character's world so I can add it to the master list (and those from the old guard, remember I had said to keep something in mind? Now is the time!) If you need any help or advice, I'd be more than willing to help you out! That goes for any other questions you may have!

Have fun with the blasts from your home worlds, guys~

EDIT: All new places have been added to the list! Any new items have a little star next to them.

How about in the middle of the lake with a walkway leading to it? Also we probably shouldn't have the doors electrified, I'm thinking. Less deadly that way.

Yeah, it's literally a very large (like 3-4 feet wide) bowl of red wine. Ichijou would not recommend drinking from it because there is a very high probability that someone gross has bathed in it.

You may regret giving that permission!

It's already going to be enough of a shock without them being that way, dontcha know. XD

Oh, hey, did you want the link to the stuff on tragical history tour to look for appropriate pics?

It's bigger on the inside!

I mean...
I'd like for Windam's Temple to appear inside the palm house in the botanical garden, if I may. I don't know if it'd work, but if the outside changes too, it'd look like this. (Which is kinda ridiculously huge. >.>)

So, the inside of Windam's Temple is a vast space. (Windam is a giant bird, after all. Needs the space to stretch out.) The centre is a ring with six floating crystals, over 20 feet in height. The ceiling has large crystals hanging from it, like clustered stalactites. The overall ambiance is green.

Just so people know, Fuu had asked Flynn to take inventory of the food as best he could, so there's a possibility to play things out from that. (Hopefully he is over his hoarding ways for good?) :3

Is it okay if I have already thought of an object for Meru? If accepted, I think the best places for it would be in the forest, or some unused doorway - though I'd prefer the forest if possible.

The object is the barrier between the Forest of the Winglies and the rest of Endiness. It is actually only visible to Winglies, and I of course don't expect Meru to be able to use it (go through it) but the barrier would allow her to hear the voices of her peers/family she left behind in the Forest through it due to its magical properties and the way Winglies are attuned to each other.

Since this is on the Human side of the barrier, she'd also hear the voices of Humans who think they have come to mere a dead end in the Evergreen Forest. Is this an acceptable "object" or am I still hazy on the instructions...?

Or, if she does try to use it, and it reacts and allows her go through, I assume it would just transport her back into the town of Luministi. (As, now that I think of it, she'd certainly try.)

Okay, gotcha. Thanks for the details! In that case, is it alright for the dress to show up in Vriska's house at A13 East? I got the okay from her mun too. o/

:|a I kind of want to pull the Mana Tree itself, actually, but. On the other hand, somewhere that came from somewhere a bit more populated could be good! idk idk I'll keep thinking for a couple days.

Hawk's… probably been doing some hoarding of his own. Anyone's free to bother him, though. He might make a stew at some point.

There's also some food in Ichijou's house with a fair amount of ingredients like flour and sugar and such, which he may be willing to give permission to raid (or it can be raided without permission, but he'll throw a shitfit if anyone makes a mess. Or if Flynn does the raiding.).

I am after the rusty old "future" Laytonmobile from Future London, in its pre-spoiler undriveable state. The doors open and people can sit inside but it doesn't do anything otherwise - even if it did, it's out of gas petrol!

It can sit somewhere off to the side in the grasses, all overgrown and generally making a right proper eyesore of itself while Luke goes nuts.

If not! Then I'm after the little restaurant from Misthallery (Specter) where Luke and Layton went so often for info and tea/food.

Kon's got some bread and cheese on his end, and with the Talon coming into town, there'll be coffee and other various snack foods. :|a

If push comes to shove, however, Kon can survive without eating (and thus give his food to people who need it more). It's purely psychological for him!

Mu can also go awhile without food, but he can't just STOP EATING COMPLETELY FOREVER. Just eat considerably less.

Oh, it is. Although ignorance is bliss, it would probably seem pretty good if someone didn't know (or didn't care) that it was bath wine. :V

How about somewhere weird, like precariously balancing on top of a filing cabinet or sitting on a desk in one of the lab offices?
