[Video] S3-1 - First Dream

[Flynn's expression is livid as his video flicks on. He's halfway through a threat, too angry to realize his mistake of turning on the CAT a moment late.]

--hope I never get my hands on whoever is responsible, because they'll need a lot more than a magic flower when I'm done.

[He hesitates a moment, obviously warring with himself on whether it's worth it to say more. A beat later, disgusted, he ends the message.]

[Vriska bites into her apple and rolls her eyes.]

Man, calm down! You can cry more later.

[Psht. Calm. He's working on it. He's probably moving more toward manic than mad, at least.

Flynn narrows his eyes at his screen when the video cuts back in, but he quickly switches from annoyance to sarcasm.]

I'm fine -- giddy, even!

[A pause.

Flynn lifts an eyebrow.]

Going a little heavy on the cosmetics, aren't we?

Okay, whatever, I'll pretend I buy your fakey fake act if that'll make you feel better about yourself.

[Raising her an eyebrow of her own.]

What are you, archaic? It's just a little mascara and lipstick. How is this a lot!

[Flynn is going to tactfully ignore that first comment with a small shrug before gesturing at his face a little less tactfully.]

The grey?

This just so happens to be a rare but serious skin disease that I have. Um, it's kind of terminal? Clearly! What kind of guy are you, anyway? Man, so rude. You probably couldn't be less sensitive to a girl's needs if you tried!

Oh. Well.

Right, then.

[And here we see Flynn backpedaling as fast as acceptable and trying to find a road that -doesn't- lead to a pitfall like the one he just oh-so-kindly dug himself here.]

So! You're a new... ah... face around here. Tell me what brings you to Luministi this fine day? Just couldn't wait to go meet the mayor, huh? Meet new people, get a crack at the town's great parties?

[Sophie is quite as livid when she re-initiates the feed] Have they brought you back here as well? It's utter wickedness! And I certainly plan to get my hands on them, too!

[Flynn throws his free hand up in the air in exasperation.]

Finally! Someone else who thinks so, too!

[unfortunately, Sophie isn't done with her tirade yet] My son is back there! He's only weeks old, and he's stuck as a kitten, and this place brings me back here!

[That brings Flynn up short.

Your son?

[And then:]

A... kitten?

Whoa, whoa, whoa -- back up. I was going to complain that I was in the middle of my wedding, but... Come again? A kitten? The small, fluffy kind?

Your wedding!? [Sophie stares] Who does Filippo Resarci think he is!? He's as wicked as the Witch of the Waste!

[on the bright side, she does add:] Yes, I was under a cat spell, though apparently it's been broken, but it hasn't been for him, and now he's in the mountains all alone!

[don't mind the irony that she was trying to calm Flynn down with assurances that time won't pass when he arrived the last time. she's too upset to think about that right now]

A dead man, obviously. [He's 100% genuine on that count, even if he's acting flippant about it with a casual lift of his shoulders.

On the other side of things, he's really put out finding out that Sophie was recently a cat. More so that her son is still under a spell and left out alone because of all this. The idea of a loved one left behind hits him hard and, unfortunately for both of them, he doesn't remember Sophie's past assurances about time's passage.]

Let's get out of here, then! I don't even want to think about what Rapunzel is going through -- we all made it out of here before, right? How hard can it be to walk right back out?

[Jamie's transmission seems to be coming from a cave, if the rocky walls and lack of proper illumination is anything to go by. The pale-greenish glow that is there is casting odd shadows on his face, but he's clearly not happy about the whole thing.]

Aye, that makes two of us. Are ye back in town like the others, then?

[Flynn peers closely at his screen with one eye, trying to pick out where Jamie is.]

Unfortunately. You've gotta tell me your secret. That doesn't look like any part of town I've ever seen -- new addition?

Right. [And that's her responding to all of his questions. Manners, she has none.] Anyway!

[This guy's making it waaaaaaaay too easy.]

Since I can see that you've learned from your mistake, I'll tell you a little something. Whenever you see people like me on the streets, the best thing to do is to cough on us. Loud and hard. Right in the face! The forceful breath of your good health is considered good luck. Or something.

[Flynn is on board right up until that last little bit -- he was completely buying the strange custom and was ready to be reeled in. He wasn't necessarily going to -follow- the custom, but he was willing to believe it was true.

Right up until that 'or something' came along.

Flynn pauses, both eyebrows lifting toward his hairline.]

Uh-huuuh.

You're aware that generally it's the sick who cough on people, right?

[admittedly, her son is with two strange men who don't know he's actually human, and from her perspective? that pretty well counts as alone]

Oh, don't say things like that! [she winces. you'll give them bad luck, Flynn!] But we should certainly try. Where are you right now? The exit is through the Mayor's house--or, at least, it always has been before.

[Flynn should probably be a more superstitious man after some of the things he's seen, but he's still got a little too much of that everything-proof way of thinking for that.

At Sophie's questions, he sweeps his CAT out in a nauseatingly quick display of his location before adding more helpfully:]

Just left the eastern houses. Thought I'd see what exactly the mayor left out for us.

[He picks up his pace, jostling the image more.]

The Mayor's house, huh? Well! Seems like a good first stop when I get over that way. Can I expect to see you not far behind?

Hey? [He's confused for a few seconds, but then realizes what Flynn's on about.]

No, Xion and I are still on Fremercury. The Doctor was here, but something's happened and he's gone.

[Flynn rubs the side of his face, contemplating that.]

So... poof, disappeared like a magic spell, or poof, ran off while you guys were distracted?

Yes, of course! [and Sophie starts forward just as she is--sheet and all. unfortunately, she immediately stumbles and has to grab for a wall to steady herself]

Oh, confound it! It's so odd without a tail!

[she might need a minute]

…mm, I'm not sure how much a magic flower could do. [pause, and in a lighter tone- if not by a lot] You might have to share, though.

[It's about then that Flynn actually notices what Sophie is wearing -- or not wearing, as it were. He's not sure how he missed it, but he immediately throws a hand over his eyes, stumbling to a stop.]

You... ah... you might have forgotten something. Just so you're aware.

Share a piece of the guy?

You know, I'll have to think about it. [He offers a smirk, trying to reflect Hawk's lighter tone to only minor success.]

[the effort is appreciated!] Well, I'm sure we'll all come to an agreeable arrangement! Number of punches everyone can throw, so on and so forth.
