❧ Whispers From Different Worlds

[any and all conversations being held on the CATs suddenly cease all at once, and in the next instant, a little alarm begins to sound. none of the townspeople appear fazed by the strange happening, writing if off as yet another malfunction that has plagued the communications systems in town for the past week.

however, appearing only to the residents' CATs is a video transmission featuring someone whose face is obscured in the shadows, but from the timbre of the voice, it's a young man.]

Please be patient! We're going to help you, but we need a little more time. Keep an eye out for a message from--!

[the transmission cuts out suddenly and is replaced with a picture of a blue screen that simply reads: "Signal Lost." it takes a few moments for that screen to go away, but what--or who--appears next may surprise the residents...]

❧ Plot Details: Whispers From Different Worlds
Welcome to Luministi's Fourth Wall event! As you might have guessed from the above IC portion of this entry, this event will be part of the game's canon and it's all thanks to those malfunctioning CAT devices! However, visiting characters will not appear in the town itself. They will appear in video transmissions alone.

For this entry alone, the vidscreens are still down and most of the CAT functions are down as well with the exception of the video function, enabling residents to communicate with visiting characters, and visitor can also communicate with other visitors as well. Think of it like signals being crossed. And to make things a little easier for everyone, the video transmissions are clear and normal as they would be any other day and don't feature the strange solarised/flipped quirk that they have had for the past week. In any entries made after this one on until the end of the plot, the CATs functions will return to what they were like at the start of the plot.

For those of you new to the game, the CATs, or Communications Audiovisual Transmitters, are personalized communication devices about the size of your palm, and for this day only, visiting characters will have this device. From a video broadcast standpoint, you'll be able to see the the immediate surroundings of the person you're talking to. More information about the CATs can be found on the FAQ page.

In-game time, this event lasts a day, but you can tag for however long you want!

Ah, one more thing! If visiting characters app into the game following this entry's events, memories about what was said and who you spoke to will be able to come to you upon proper entry into the town, but not before then. Characters in-game already will be able to remember their time talking to the visitors and will be able to react to them after the fact.

So yes! Tag in and threadhop in this entry as much as you like! If you have any questions, please feel free to leave an OOC comment here or PM me.

Hope you all have fun and welcome again~

Of course you can't; you're on this hologram thing! The armor would go right through you!

[casually] Oh, you know, an artificial intelligence thing you put in your head and you can talk with it and stuff. [pause] You aren't in my head, are you?

[identity profile] mightyappendix.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
What?! No way, I'm solid! You're the one who's see-through, buddy! And I'm sure as heck not in your head!

[identity profile] inhisownworld.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[tilts his head slightly] Hmm, I don't know... [is tempted to pass his hand through the hologram, but he doesn't want to risk hurting it]

[identity profile] inhisownworld.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
[gasps] That's exactly what I was thinking!

[identity profile] mightyappendix.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, okay? Man, you're weird...

[identity profile] inhisownworld.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah... I get that a lot... [a short pause before he changes the subject] Do you have a name, Tiny Person Who May Or May Not Be An AI?

[identity profile] mightyappendix.livejournal.com 2011-06-07 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'm Kiki! Student of the Great and Mighty Mu! Nice ta' meet'cha!

[identity profile] inhisownworld.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Hello, Kiki! [hold on while he processes the rest of what was just said. excitedly] Wait a minute, the Mighty Mu Mu! Is he a magician? Oh! Or a superhero? Or better yet, a magician AND a superhero?!

[identity profile] mightyappendix.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
A...What? Neither! He's a Saint!

[identity profile] inhisownworld.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
He's a footballer person then! What position does he play?

[identity profile] inhisownworld.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
[football, according to Caboose:]

It's a game where these big, burly men--and sometimes, fast sprinty type people--throw around something called a "pig skin", and then they take the pig skin and throw it around for a while before they get tired from all the turkey they ate earlier. Then they take a nap while a bunch of pretty ladies sing, and dance, and toss each other around the field--[he stops, realizing something]--just like a pig skin!

Ohh, and here's the best part! When they throw the pig skin through the hoop, a bunch of confetti rains down on all the players!

[identity profile] mightyappendix.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
[This face, Caboose. This face.]

[identity profile] inhisownworld.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Doesn't that sound awesome?!

[mind you, he's thinking solely about the confetti at this point...]

[identity profile] inhisownworld.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
You're right; it's even better than awesome.

[identity profile] mightyappendix.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
It sounds weird. I don't even eat meat, so I wouldn't have a pig skin to play with anyways.

[identity profile] inhisownworld.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, it's not a real pig skin. Not now, anyway. [lowers his voice] It would be a really dirty and gross one by now. ...Probably shouldn't think of what they do with the pig skin when they're not using it for the game.

[identity profile] mightyappendix.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Then why call it that?

What? Do they wear it, like sheepskin?

[identity profile] inhisownworld.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I think at one time it really was made of real pigs! But throwing a real pig around without getting crushed is a bit messy--and a bit heavy. So! The next best thing was the skin, and that is the story of the naked pig!

[he doesn't respond immediately, turning the question over in his head] ...What does a sheep have to do with football?

[identity profile] mightyappendix.livejournal.com 2011-06-09 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
N-Nothing, but I wonder what they did with the pig skin when they weren't playing with it?

[identity profile] inhisownworld.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, they probably put it in with the rest of the players in the locker room until they were ready to play again. They had to recharge their batteries, after all. [sage knowledge is sage, oh yes]

[identity profile] mightyappendix.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Then...what....You make no sense, guy!

[identity profile] inhisownworld.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
But you're training to be a footballer person like the Mighty Mu Mu person, right? You'd think he'd have explained a thing or two by now.
