[To all new residents AND Miss Verita]

Everyone, I could use a second, or third or fourth, mind on something.

I tried to follow up with the Mayor to see about getting an appointment - it's one of the last things I did before the gas. I got a message back from Miss Osculia, saying "due to an unexpected situation in town, the mayor is again tied up with ensuring the safety of the town and unable to make any further appointments this week".

Now, I hope I'm not over thinking it, but is that not strange? The regular residents don't seem concerned about the 'fog' at all, and the 'murder' is behind bars. I can't imagine that the loss of doctor Resarci rates so seriously.

Miss Verita, or anyone else, do you happen to have any idea of what this new 'unexpected situation' threatening the town might be?
Seeing as we're all currently residents here, whatever it is concerns us too.

I think you might be minutely mistaken in this case. The gas leak is still a considerable concern! The clinic says it's harmless, but the mayor wants Doctor Resarci's professional opinion. And the mayor wants it to stop just as much as anybody else, too! Nobody wants gas leaking out in their town. So that's probably why he won't meet with you right now. You should try again later.

Oh, Miss Verita! I'm so glad to hear that. --I mean, I'm so glad to hear it's not something else.

[bows] I'm sorry for jumping to such concern. My own shoes are so hard to fill.... [Kind grin] But Miss Osculia certainly has a flair for the dramatic under all that seriousness to call it an 'unexpected situation' rather than simply saying 'gas leak'.

So doctor Resarci is still missing, ne? He's going to be in such trouble when he returns, I'm sure. But I hope you and your family stays well. Can't have you getting ill while the doctor is away, right?

Officially, he's on vacation, but the timing is spectacularly suspicious. And don't worry, I'm just fine! I have to be. How else would everybody get the news?
