[The corridor is, well... a doorway, so there's a large part of it where the fork will just keep going and going and going, because you're meant to walk through the corridor to the other side. The darkness isn't interested in the fork; it's an inanimate object. So should the Doctor try to touch the darkness itself with the fork, it'll just move on around it, like smoke.]
